Depends on what you want to do with it.

First of all, studios are expensive. So, if you only want to have a song done, you'll be able to do the necessary work on your own.

A professional mixing & mastering in a studio is important for bands that want to send their demotapes to labels or to distribute it online on their own. I mean, why would you pay a lot of money just to upload a track online and show it to friends?

Anyway, you also can do a lot of mixing and mastering in Music Maker on your own. Question is, what's your song like? MIDI-files, recordings...

If you are not satisfied with the result from doing it yourself, and you don't mind the expense, there's no reason not to have them professionally mixed and mastered.

If you are considering it, I'd talk to the engineer that will do the mixing and mastering to find out what he/she would like to have from you.

Obviously, it would be best if each instrument were exported (WAV file) as a separate (dry) track to give them the greatest flexibility.

Keep in mind that if you export any tracks with effects on, you are pretty much stuck with it.  The effects cannot be undone later.  You would have to export the track again with all of the effects turned off (dry).
