How can I merge two video files with Magix 3.0 Rescue Your Videotapes?

when I use insert video button to insert the previous save file from hard drive( previous movie file save under Magix 3.0)  to the ones that I am currently editing to make the movie longer. Magix asked me to save the currently file that I was editing on and then it closed my file and upload the new file into the movie editing widows.

Sorry I don't have 'Resuce...' here, but your problem may be a feature of Magix video editors.

In Movie Edit Pro you are given the choice of closing an existing movie when you try and open a new one (behavior  you are getting by default) or adding the movie to the current 'Project' as MEP can accommodate multiple movies in a single project -- a DVD has a 'movie'  menu and below that, if needed, chapter menus for each movie.

I'd suggest exporting one of your projects as say a mpeg file and then adding that to the other movie same as you would add an additional video clip.

Note: Check if your 'File' menu has an option to 'manage' movies where you can import and add which is different to trying to open a new movie.

To add to what cpc000cpc has said, you really need to understand the the product you purchased is not supposed to be a full blown video editor.  It is designed to "Rescue Your Video Tapes" one tape at a time.  True, once you have rescued the tape you can enhance it, edtit it to some degree, and save or burn it.  That is pretty much where the funcionality of this product ends.  If you need to do more than this, you really need to purchase a product that can give you the funcionality that is beyond the scope of the one you bought. 

This is not a product fault or a product defect.  You purchased a product to rescue or save you video tapes.  Now you want to do something more, it is only reasonable that you look at a product that will give you more than what you have.  

The biggest features of Rescue Your Videotapes is that you purchased a simple usb video converter or adaptor that brings the video signal in to your computer, then provides you with the ability to edit that project to make it the best it can be.  You can use this product hundreds of times to do this with all of your video tapes, one at a time.  However, now when you want to merge 2, 3 or more of those tapes into one production, you really need a video editing program that is geared toward this task.

I hope this makes sense to you.  You have purchase a great product that produces great results, you have just simply moved to the next step of the technology, and that is not included in the product you purchased.
