How can I insert a blank dark page with white titles?

Former user wrote on 11/12/2012, 1:44 PM

I have Movie Edit Pro 16 that I bought a few years ago but haven't used. Last week I opened the program and tried to use it. I'm begining to understand it. My question is this: How can I make a simple title (black background with white text) and insert it at the begining, end, and between some clips? When I now create a title it is always inserted over a few frames. I would like to make titles and be able to drag them where I want them. I would also like to see them in the storyboard or timeline.

Would it be wise to get the 2013 version of Movie Edit Pro? Is there an upgrade or would I just buy the new version?

One more question: When I try to download the PDF manual on the Magix website I get the little box with the X inside it instead of the series of letters to enter. I'd like to read the PDF manual because the print in the manual that came with my program is too small for me.

Tommyvin,

I think you need to be sure your are in 'timeline' mode of editing -- a stack of many horizontal tracks with content, rather than a single series of little image icons. To change mode use the icons at the far left of your screen.

I've put an imge and a title just touching on track five, and then a second image with a gap after the title which will appear black. (This is from MEP 14, yours may be a little different)

PDF? Check if it is already in the folder with your program. I've no idea about the 'X'; is there not an option to load another set of letters?

Regards,

Carl

Hi

Re the red cross

You are not the first with this problem - see this post  for possible solutions.

Hi Tommyvin,

As Carl suspected, the Timeline mode icon is in a slightly different location in MEP 16:

If you still have problems downloading the PDF Manual after following up John's suggestions I could upload it temporarily (10.1 MB) - let us know.

Hello, welcome to the world of MAGIX.

I think that Terry already answered your question perfect. If you want that said effect, all you need to write your title at the beginning, end or wherever you need. Just keep the title without any pictures or videos (else you won’t have that black background).

Right now my suggestion will be to try out your MEP 16 for some months and then go for the MEP 2013. Try out the MEP 16 for some more time and we are here to help you out.

Most queries are there in the corner of the software, in the search option.

I found all contributions helpful. Thanks

The PDF manual was in my Magix program so I'm going to get acquainted with that in the next few days. I will probably still have some questions about making titles though. If I do, I'll open up a new thread and try to be specific as to my problem.

What I'm doing now is trying to edit about a dozen clips that I took at a ballroom dance last week. This will either give me a positive learning experiance or some frustration.

Tommyvin,

.... This will either give me a positive learning experiance or some frustration.

I'm fairly certain you will no doubt experience both. And more than once! The never ending but thoroughly rewarding story.

Enjoy,
