How can I import my photos from Amazon Prime Photos?

Kristi-Dumonceaux wrote on 5/18/2021, 3:39 PM

I have searched high and low and I am unable to find anything that shows me how to import my photos from my amazon prime photo account. Also when I try to import photos from Google drive it tells me that google blocked it for safety? So how do I make that work so I can import from Google as well?

@Kristi-Dumonceaux

Hi

The photos/images need to be on your computer not in the cloud.

I do hope you are not relying entirely on the cloud as your only place to keep photos/images and other documents, do you have backups locally eg on an external hard drive for safe keeping.

I guess since it said it can import from multiple cloud photo services that meant we could do it directly from the cloud. I see Google drive on their as well, but when I tried to import from Google it said Google blocked it for safety. So how do I get those too unblock so I can import them? And yes I do have an external hard drive, but I have about 60,000 pictures and at the moment I just needed to work with them and I will add them to my hard drive after. Thanks for any advice you have to import directly from the cloud.

thanks, Kristi

Hi Kristi

. . . . I tried to import from Google it said Google blocked it for safety. . . .

Is you computer permanently logged in to Google Drive and do you see a Google drive folder in File Explorer?

If so then you should be able to point PM to that folder and let is search for the images.

Do note - PM does not import the images - it only stores a reference to their location and if you are offline there will be no access to them through PM.

IMHO if the images are not on your hard drive/external drive, they should be downloaded before using PM to catalogue them - this will save indexing them twice which can take a few hours depending on how many there are in the cloud.

Okay thank you. I didn’t understand that PM didn’t actually import the photos to their own site or cloud. I was under the impression that my photos would be stored and managed in a cloud account through Magix. I will attempt this again differently. Thank you for your assistance.

kind regards,

Kristi
