@ulli-burgmer

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . Just installed movie edit pro premium . . .

Did you download and install all the extra content available under Help, Install extra content?

If not do so and please note that the download and install will take a while, then try importing the file again after restarting Movie Edit Pro (MEP).

An AVI file is a container file format - it can contain one of 9 different video formats and 7 audio formats, MEP needs to have the correct codecs required to read the file installed.

If there is still a problem then we need to determine what formats are in the video file, use MediaInfo to analyse the AVI file, start MediaInfo and, using Windows Explorer, drag the file on to the MediaInfo pane.

Switch MediaInfo to the Text view and copy all the information and paste into a reply.

Also please read this topic and include your computer specification as is listed in the topic with the MediaInfo data.

Hi,

I have a similar problem with *avi files in MEP (18.0.1.213). Well, I can import them by they are not played correctly - it seems the file starts playing but then guts stuck and keeps replaying the first 10 frames or so in a loop . . .

Just clicking on the file in the Import window and playing it, without importing, has the same result.
Other players (vlan, Dell player) play the *.avi file just fine.

Thanks,
Chris
