How can I get HD footage to playback faster?

I'm using Magix Moive Edit Pro 17. I have a lot fo HD footage I need, but its playing back so choppy that I can't accurately place where it needs to be on the time line. I've lowered the resolution of the playscreen as much as I can, and I adjusted the CPU to work for top performance (should I have set it for Graphics instead?). Any suggestions?

This topic has been covered many times already

If you have not done so try the search box on the right and search for 'choppy playback'
