How can I determine what effects have been added to a particular portion of my video?

Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium: How can I determine what effects I have used for a particular portion of my video?  I am not able to see which one I added. Consequently, if I need to remove the effect and go back later to add it again, I have trouble locating what I used.

Hi

To see the applied effects you must be in Timeline mode and may need to zoom in on the objects on the timeline.

Each video or image object on the timeline will list the effects applied as shown below

Hi

if I need to remove the effect and go back later to add it again, I have trouble locating what I used.

To cover this possibility you can go to the Keyframe effects timeline at the bottom of the Effects Tab in the Mediapool where you will see all the added effects for the selected clip, at the left (you may need to left click drag the top of the KF timeline up to see all the effects if there are a few). If you do not want an effect rather than remove it you can just uncheck the tick to the right of the effect name to disable it. If you want the effect again you can just go back and tick it later and all the parameters will be as you set them previously.

Thank you both for your response!  I have tried both suggestions and am still not able to determine which effect I applied to create this collage.  The Key Frame does come up for the "Video Effects" portion of "Effects" but not for the "Design Elements."  The same seems to be true for the descriptions placed in the Timeline that do tell me if I have added something like "Saturation."  I have created a collage and now cannot tell which one it was.  I need to make a change to one of the images within the collage and then apply the same collage type.  Do you know where or if this information is available?  Thank you!

Hi

AFAICS for collages there is no way of finding which one is applied other than playing the preview of each one until you find the one that matches.

I suspect the one you have used is >5obj 02

Hi,

Scroll down vertically on the timeline to see all of the images selected. Select the one that you want to exchange. This selects the whole group. Click on the Ungroup button. If the correct image is not still selected, select it again. Select the image that you want to be the new one from the Media pool. Right-click on the insert button just above the timeline and select exchange. The previous image should be replaced by the new image and all of the effects should still be there (I can't try it as I am not at home). You can regroup all of the objects that were previously grouped if you want.

Don't forget that you are now in Exchange mode with the insert button, so you should change it the next time that you use it.

Note that with the objects ungrouped, you can make adjustments to the effects of each image. Click on one and then go to the effects tab, and almost anything but Design elements, as you noted, and you will see the effects in the keyframe area. Look at how they are done and learn from the example.

Thank you  for your resonse, John. I suspected that there wasn't away.  You were close - it is a 3 object collage.

Thank you for your response too, browj2.  I was able to ungroup the images and select both the image that is there and the image that I would like to replace it with, however, I cannot locate an "insert" button anywhere.  Is it part of the timeline mode for this particular version of magix?

browj2 wrote on 8/24/2016, 3:32 PM

Hi,

The insert button is just above the timeline, to the right of the scissors (last button in the group). Right - click and you will see several alternatives, with Exchange at or near the bottom.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.  I went through the steps and it did change the image, however, the image didn't have any of the collage effects, but was still in the middle of the collage.  Thank you for the idea! It seems like it should have worked.

browj2 wrote on 8/24/2016, 4:48 PM

If the effects are not transferred to the new image, then the trick is to right click on the old one first, and somewhere there is Copy effects. Do this then make the exchange, the right click on the new image and paste the effects. The shortcuts are Shift+- and - I believe.
