Horrible Static Sound coming from the left channel upon clicking recrd

Ricardo-Adam wrote on 8/30/2021, 1:37 PM

After installing Sound Forge 15 on my Dell Window Home Edition, When I click on the record button, this screeching static sound fires from the left output channel, together with a Windows chime sound, which is weird. I reinstalled the app, but the same thing is happening. I use a Samson G-Pro microphone and interface.

Which version of SF? Read the 'Sticky' at the head for the main Sound Forge forum page.

Dell laptop PCs in general are quirky with sound. Plugging in headphone or external speakers will often temporarily disrupt the record and playback settings, so try rebooting first

Does the integrated soundcard exhibit the same behavior as the USB mic?

Check the Windows sound settings and disable all other devices in the 'record' settings
Otherwise, try this; in Sound Forge's "Options> Preferences> Audio> Record tab" and set both channels to 'Right' and choose a single channel mono file in (File> New) ... since that is all you need anyway for voice. Generally, one should save the files for editing in a PCM format. MP3 and other lossy formats should only be used for end-user distribution and streaming over the internet.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum @Ricardo-Adam.

This could also be caused by the Magix Low Latency 2016 driver...some users have had this happen over the years, but uninstalling the Magix Low Latency driver seems to fix it. You can remove the driver by doing the following:

Press the keyboard shortcut "Windows + R" to access the "Run" command window.
Type "REGEDIT" and click on [Enter].

Then navigate to:  "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ASIO > Magix Low Latency 2016".

Now, simply right click the Magix Low Latency 2016 folder, and delete it.

This should resolve the issue
