Hi, how can i create a hd dvd disc on Magix movie pro 2013? It seems that when burning only 3 options are available....

Hi, when burning a project to dvd there are only 3 options to choose from, (1)dvd (2)Blue Ray and (3)AVCHD. The quality of dvd has 2 stars while the quality of the second and 3rd option have 3 stars. When choosing option 1 does it create a HD DVD? I recorded a wedding with a really good camera in hd .mts format and would like to have the project in Hd too when burning. If I use option 2 and 3 it only plays on blue ray dvd players which limits me if my customers don't have blue ray dvd players. What shoud I do? If you see on my screenshot you'll see what im talking about. I really want to choose option 1 but is the outcome in hd? I know 2 and 3 are at there best quality if I choose any but like I said not all my customers have blue ray dvd players. Thanks

ldgante,

Two distinct issues -- file format and physical medium. Blu Ray discs may need Blu Ray players, but note that option (3) also shows SD cards as an option for export of AVCHD format video. If your potential customers have computers, or 'media players' attached to their TVs, you have lots more choices.

I'll bet John will have a more complete answer! :-)

Carl

Thanks, but im still confuse. All I want is to burn a hd dvd that could be played on regular dvd player.  I believe I tried already option 3 and that created a blueray dvd that is only playable in blueray players. Dont get me wrong the quality is awsome, but unfortanetaly not all my customers have blue ray players.

Hi

There is no such thing as a HD DVD disc that will play on a regular DVD player. MEP used to allow you to burn an HD DVD format on a DVD disc but this still required a High definition player to play it and almost nobody has these as this format lost the High Def war - a bit like Betamax lost out to VHS.

As Carl mentioned, there are plenty of options for HD recording that will play on computers and some newer TV's - SD cards, USB sticks etc. DVD discs can be recorded in Bluray and WMVHD formats for play back on std computer DVD drives.

Hi

As Carl and SS have said there is no such thing as  HD DVD.

Standard DVD player format is 720*576 pixels, mpeg2 video format - if your movie is HD, eg 1920*1080, then it must be scaled down to play on a standard DVD player - there is no other option.  However you can increase the bitrate setting and quality settings in the DVD burn dialog to get the best possible with the DVD standard format.

To play HD video as HD, ie the Bluray or AVCHD burn option, on disc you must have a Bluray player.

The confusion lies in the fact that you can burn a HD video - Bluray or AVCHD - on to a standard DVD disc which you play in the BD player.  However the capacity of the disc means the movie can only be about 30 - 40 mins long.

The other possibility is a TV that can play AVCHD or mp4 from a memory stick, USB external hard drive or over a computer network in which case you use the Export movie option to export the video in a HD format that the TV can play - usually mp4 or AVCHD (.mts)

Hope this clears up the confusion

John.
