Help with VegasPro and Asus Dial

I purchased a laptop from Asus that has a built in physical dial. When researching a new laptop I settled on the ASUS because of the dial. Besides working with popular software, it boasted being able to make custom functions. Turns out, by popular software, they meant only ADOBE products. And by custom functions they meant figure it out for yourself as all examples showed or demonstrated only s rehash of the functions that already existed for ADOBE products with the dial.

Anyhow, I'm wondering if anyone would know of a command that I could use for a custom function where when I rotate the dial to the left, it would be the equivalent of holding the left mouse button down and moving the mouse to the left. Same for opposite direction. Holding the left mouse button down and moving the mouse to the right when the dial is rotated to the right.

I'm wanting to use this with VegasPro 21. A plus would be to set the focus to the video window. I'm hoping that I can make use of the dial within the tracks panel and as a video scrubber.

@roger_waldrip

Gday Rojer, could you post your query on the Vegas forum here:

Cheers.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.
