Help with getting 60fps video saved to my PC

Jake123 wrote on 12/14/2020, 9:14 PM

Hello, I have my Camcorder set to record at 60p and when I look at the video properties it shows it at 59.94fps in the software when I'm editing my video. However once I save it to my PC outputting it as a video file the properties show it at 29.97, so when I upload to youtube I'm not getting the 60fps video like I would like my videos to have. Could anyone please help me out trying to get my videos saved at 60fps on my PC? I would really appreciate the help, Thank you.

Hi Jake and welcome to the Movie Edit Pro user to user forums.

I have my Camcorder set to record at 60p and when I look at the video properties it shows it at 59.94fps in the software when I'm editing my video.

That would be correct. Although camcorder manufacturers refer to various frame rates as being 30 or 60fps they are close to the actual frame rate but not the exact frame rate. Only 24fps 25fps, and 50fps are actual recorded frame rates. You can blame the NTSC broadcast specifications for the variation in the other two specifications. It is possible with screen capture software though to capture at precisely those two frame rates.

However once I save it to my PC outputting it as a video file the properties show it at 29.97, so when I upload to youtube I'm not getting the 60fps video like I would like my videos to have.

Then you have selected the wrong output settings in the projects export settings or have set up the wrong project settings. Both should be correct or you will not benefit from your cameras set frame rate.

Make sure when setting up a project that the frame rate and frame sizes and ratios match by selecting the correct settings you see in the drop down boxes in the movie project setup box.

When exporting video, use the 'File \ Export Movie \ (select preferred export format) method.

When exporting take note of the following please.

Ray.

Hi

In addition to @CubeAce comment do note that Youtube will re-render the video down to various resolutions as low as 240p, and they may also reduce the frame rate, to match the viewers Internet connection speed for smooth playback, so what you upload the viewers may not see the same version.

As Ray has said - blame the NTSC specification - the true frame rates are 29.97fps and 59.94 fps
