i cannot get past the "push record button" on the tutorial. the "next" button does not highlight. i am trying to record on two channels. any help would be appreciated.
I am not familiar with the tutorials, but these are the basic instructions of recording a 2-channel file (interleaved stereo or dual-mono).
- In Sound Forge, go to 'Options> Preferences> Audio' and select the 'Record' tab - Confirm or select the record device type. For an internal soundcard 'Windows Classic Wave Driver' or 'MS Sound Mapper' are usually trouble-free. - Select 'File> New' and set the channel number to 2 (select; Discreet #2 or Stereo). Set the sample rate and bit depth parameters (typically 44.1kHz/16 bit for audio only files) - Go to 'View> Record options' and make other parameter changes if so desired. - Leave the 'Record options' window open and select 'Arm'' (aka, record ready) in the 'Transport' menu (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+A). - Viewing the record level meters in the 'Record options' window, (whilst the source audio is playing or instrument or mic), make record level adjustments at the source or in the interface (soundcard) - Commence recording by selecting 'Record' in the transport (key shortcut: Ctrl+R). Select 'Stop' in the transport menu when recording is complete. Saving and editing the new audio is best done in the PCM <.wav> file format. MP3s and other small file size formats can be encoded from the PCM master for end user distribution.
