HELP!! MEP 2013 Keeps crashing - Can't finish a project - Due tomorrow!

bobread1 wrote on 1/4/2013, 12:19 PM

I bought a brand new DELL with i7, 24GB RAM and GEforce GTX660 Graphics card and WIndows 8 - all  just to run the latest MEP - 2013 pro plus.

Well the program started out fine, but as my timeline grew - not very long though - it started crashing every time I try to use it.  I am freaking out and can't finish an important project.

MAGIX support ran a diognostic and only said I should update the program - but that didn't help.  I also tried uninstall/reinstall.

Don't know what to do???  I am a loyal MEP customer and have had a few versions over the years - but this is impossible!

If anyone can offer a solution - I would be forever grateful!

Thanks,

Bob

Hi,

Have you installed the latest patch?  You should be able to see if there is one by logging in to your Magix account using this link.

https://support2.magix.com/customer/en

then click on "Downloads" and go from there.

By the way , how long is your timeline?  What stage are you at with your project?  If you have the ability to send me your project and tell me what you want done with it, I may be able to help.  I edit video professionally and sometimes when I see a tight deadline post such as your I try to help out.

Yes I did.  Still crashing every time.

That's so nice of you to offer -  but I have too much video on an external drive for you to do that.

I just need this program to run without crashing every 30 seconds.  I just never exxpected this with a brand new computer and MEP 2013.

Any suggestion for an inexpensive program that will work that I can download asap??

Thanks again!

Sorry to hear this,

I have no idea why your version of MEP 2013 is crashing, but you can try downloading the trial of Corel Video Studio Pro X5 Ultimate and see if that works for you.  It is relatively stable compared to some of the others out there, but I am really surprised that MEP keeps crashing on you.  I have never had that experience.  Adobe products yes, the always crash but for a consumer editor for me MEP never crashes.

This is the link

http://www.corel.com/corel/category.jsp?cat=cat4130131&rootCat=cat3520071

scroll down to the bottome of the page and download the trial.

Good Luck,

George

Just so you know, your system specs are superb so no problem there.  Is there any chance that you have picked up a virus or some other sort of malware?

Don't worry about that now, just get your project finished and worry about it later, but if you are using Microsoft, McAffey, or  Symantec/Norton, you probably need to deal with that later.

I know - I really liked the MEP product until now.    Thanks for the Corel suggestion.  I'm hoping the trial is a functional version so that I can finish this 15 minute project.

I'll let you know how it goes.  Really appreciate your help!
