You want to monitor the voice while recording it? Right? This usually doesn't require any special settings, especially within the context of the very simplified audio recording settings in Music Maker. However, you will need audio hardware that is actually capable of full-duplex recordings (meaning recording and monitoring at the same time). Especially some on-board sound hardware might not be up to snuff. You should consider a plug-in sound card.
Try first to download the ASIO4all driver and choose that as input in your program.
The price of an external soundcard usally is according to how many options you want - i.e. how many channels, different input types (jack, XLR, midi...).
