Hardware acceleration keeps turning off when restart mep.

Hi!

When I set video mode to standard mode and choose my Nvidia gtx 860m and restart mep it goes back to compatibility mode, this doesn`t happen when I set it to the built in card (Intel HD4600). I also first has to set it to the the intel card, then ok the menu, open the menu again and then set the nvidia card to get it to work. Is this normal?

Is there anywhere that I can file bugs so they can be ironed out?

This is MEP 2016 with latest patch.

I really enjoy exploring Mep 2016, and for now I am happy with it. I am very glad that there are so many shortcuts to get up to speed at editing!

Thanks

Christian

Hi

. . . . When I set video mode to standard mode and choose my Nvidia gtx 860m and restart mep it goes back to compatibility mode . . . .

This would indicate that there is either a driver issue with the GTX 860M or it is not compatible with MEP.

IMO this is a problem with using graphics cards which are specifically designed for gaming ie their best performance is when processing for display ie a one way data flow.

With video, the data flow is two way and has to be fed to the GPU frame by frame then back to the CPU for further processing - this can reduce the performance of the GPU card and in some cases introduce instability.

Assuming this is a laptop/notebook using the Intel integrated graphics should be more than fast enough for video rendering.

Thanks for the info, I thought that might be it. Its not a big problem, just wondered if it was a bug? And yes the intel card acctually does a pretty good job!

Actually you can use your NVIDIA card. The problem is that the default card is set to the internal Intel graphics. You can set which video card to use for each program on the computer. It is really easy.

FInd NVIDIA GEFORCE experience.  it is located on the task bar where you click "Show hidden icons"

Righ click it and select "Open NVIDIA Control Panel"

When it opens select "Manage 3D settings"

Cick "Add" to add a program

Scroll to find "Magix Video Deluxe 2016", then click "Add Selected Program"

Under "Sect the preferred graphics processor for ths program, use pull down to select your NVIDIA video card.

At the bottom click save.

Thatt's it. Now check your settings in MEP. NVIDIA should be selected and video mode should be set to standard.

Awesome JohnnyO! That worked out great! Now my Nvidia Graphics card is set as standard.

By the way, for those that wanna do this, the setting is in the Nvidia Controlpanel, not Nvidia Geforce Experience!

Hi

Nice one JohnnyO.

Learned something new about NVidia's.

It took some digging to find the info, however the later versions of the Intel i series processors are quite happy to run both the integrated graphics and a PCI card as well.

There is a BIOS tweak to make this happen if the internal chipset gets disabled by the PCI-E card.
