Group and ungroup

Jim-Willis wrote on 4/14/2023, 10:46 AM

All clips group themselves when I drag them into the project

When I use the ungroup feature it will ungroup audio from video within a clip but does not ungroup clips

I can move the last clip entered individually but when I move any other clip all clips to the right move with it. I cannot move a clip to a later position even after ungrouping it.

@Jim-Willis Hi, have a play with these controls at the bottom of the preview screen, they affect how the cursor works, the first one will move individual clips wherever you want, the second will move all clips to the right of the one you move but only on that one track, the third one will move all clips on all tracks to the right of the one you move

@Jim-Willis

Hi,

All clips group themselves when I drag them into the project

No, they do not, at least they do not in Movie Studio 2023 Platinum/Suite. If you click on one and release the mouse, are they all highlighted - turn yellow? If they don't, then they are not grouped.

As Gid pointed out, you are mistaking grouping for mouse mode. The shortcuts are 6 for single object mouse mode, 7 for all objects on all tracks to the right of the selected object, 8 for single track mode - all objects to right of the selected object. Just press on 6.

If you are in mouse mode for multiple tracks (7), when you click on one at the beginning, all objects will turn yellow until you release the mouse.

This is part of basic editing. I suggest that you watch my tutorials on Getting Started parts 2 and 3 and Basic Editing parts 1 and 2:
