Green/Blue screen

Ahoy shipmates...captjack here with a Green/Blue screen problem.'s

Following all the instructions and watching many of Mr. Brown's videos....I just can't seem to get the chroma function to work. When I use a quality Green or Blue screen it removes the color yet leaves a background of a gray color (or is that grey?)...See the attached photographs.

Thank you for your responses and stay safe....

But you are too close to the green screen.
And it has to be well lit.
Furthermore, no shadows may appear on the green / blue screen.

Hi

I agree with @Marc-Goder comment .

The colour ranges that are acceptable for the Green screen effect to work correctly were tightened up when the Anti Spill feature was added.

I would also suggest you see these comments regarding the green 'shades' that work:

For the existing video try using the Chromakey, Color option and drag out a marquee (dotted line box) around a section of the green.

Thank you both. I later had the subject about two feet from the green/blue screen and the same think happened. I shall read the links John posted and see where I can go from there. Again, my thanks and stay safe...captjack...

@jack-scurlock

Hi,

As John EB indicated, use Chromakey COLOR, and drag a bit across the green or blue or whatever colour you want to use.

Working with green/blue screen requires proper lighting of the subject and of the green/blue screen, with appropriate distance of the subject to the screen.

Having an improperly lit green screen, causing many different shades of "green" makes it extremely difficult to remove the green, unless you use professional software like BorisFX Mocha Pro.

Fixing issues in post for mistakes made while filming can be extremely time consuming and sometimes impossible to fix. There are tons of videos on Youtube on how to light green screen and subjects.

Image below is a project that can clearly show you the green screen and surrounding and after compositing, etc..
