Graphics card Geforce Gt 1030

paulsweigert wrote on 8/2/2018, 5:43 PM

I have a HP 570-p033w with Intel I7-7700 processor, Windows 10 up to date. A while back I installed a Geforce Gt 1030 card. I notice that I get the "no hardware acceleration" note. Playback is very slow and lagging.

Was that a mistake? I read that Magix Movie Eddit Pro is designed for Intel GPU? Any help is appreciated.

Mistake? You getting NVIDIA is a mistake? Other application will use it... like your browser & desktop. So it's not a mistake.

MEP uses Intel hardware acceleration. So check if your Intel video is enabled in your computer BIOS. If it is, then download the Intel video driver for your computer and install it. You can have both Intel and Nvidia video devices and device driver in your computer. After that you should be able to see some settings in MEP program settings page having selection of both nvidia card and intel hardware. Selecting Intel hardware acceleration will make things go faster.

Integrated graphics

Integrated Intel HD Graphics

  note:

Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

Well. It must be a motherboard brand/model dependent thing. On mine, I can have both Nivdia & Intel video turn on and both drivers running. In that case, you may be right about that mistake.

There may be one trick left.

Does your motherboard have any graphics port? VGA, DVI, HDMI etc. If it does, then may be by removing the NVDIA, the integrated video will be working and you can check if your BIOS display the Integrated video settings, and if it does you may have an option to turn it on always (even with the NVDIA card inserted).

@paulsweigert

Hi

You can set the Intel GPU as the preferred graphics processor as follows:

Open the NVIdia control panel and click on Manage 3D Settings.

  1. Set the Global setting

On the Global Settings tab select the Intel GPU processor as your preferred graphics processor and click Apply.

    OR

  2. Specify which graphics processor programs are to use:

Open the Program Settings tab if Movie Edit Pro is not listed, click Add. Search for the MEP application - the location is

    C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2018\Videodeluxe.exe

    double click to select it.

Open the drop down menu and select the Intel integrated GPU as the preferred graphics processor for MEP and click Apply.

You should now have hardware acceleration back.

. . . . getting NVIDIA is a mistake? . . . .

Yes it can be, especially if the computer has an AMD processor and is running programs that do not / can not use the newer NVENC encoding API.

That is correct unfortunately, however did you try setting the Intel GPU to do the HWA for Movie Edit Pro as I posted above.

My motherboard does not allow it. My only option it to take out the card and use the Intel CPU or by one that does support it. Its my own fault, I should have looked into this before I purchased the card.

Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

On some Mobo's there is a setting saying Auto which detects which GPU is connected to the monitor, which can be tricked by connecting the graphics port on the Mobo to the second monitor input or a second monitor.

I think you will find the removing the Nvidia 1030 card will not be detrimental to the performance of MEP, if you need to do that.
