Thank you for complying but all you need to do is blank those numbers on the product ID as the rest of the information is helpful.

Possible causes for the slowdown of the project.

Check how much ram is being used while the project runs using task manager. With that amount of 4K footage being accessed by the program in real time there may be read write caching issues especially if the source video files are residing on the C: drive.

Have you enabled proxy files in the movie settings? That could help a lot, as could then reducing the resolution of the editing monitor window using the small lightning symbol in the bottom right hand corner of that screen.

100 minutes of 4K footage is going to have some impact on performance. I can get slow down issues on a ten minute 4K project but using nine parallel tracks running at the same time. A lot can also depend on how many transitions and effects you have running. If they are not strictly needed once applied, you could turn them off while, editing further and then turn them on again before exporting.

For anyone else who may be able to help.

The specs I remember are an eighth generation i7 processor but can't remember if it had an inboard GPU or not. 16GB of ram. Can't remember seeing if there was a separate graphics card. Don't remember seeing info on one.

Lack of drive space on the drive holding the source files may not be much of a problem but it should not be overly full. How much depends on the size of the drive and the amount of cache it has. I personally am cautious about leaving a reasonable amount of space on a hard drive. At least 4 to 6% on project storage drives as average but as I say, I'm possibly a bit over cautious and it would be drive dependant.

Another possibility is where each file is on the drive and its place in the project. but I' not sure. None of my projects get as long as your one has. It's hard enough getting anyone to watch anything over seven minutes let alone a hundred 😉.

Product codes are unique and we don't encourage them to be put on to public sites. Call it over cautious if you like but anything that could identify you on a public site could be a mistake. Sometimes people also accidentally at some future point in time put up an activation code as well. Just trying to keep everyone as safe as possible here.

Hi.

I think anyone here replying would have done the same as we see it a lot from others screen grabs.

Seeing as your system is up to date the project setup should be similar to this in the display options section if it isn't already.

If you are not having any sound problems leave that alone for now with the default settings.

I would also make sure this is done in the Windows Settings.

To get to the Choose performance preference settings try going to: System \ Graphics settings and to have 'Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling on, and below in the Graphics performance preference section select Desktop app and browse to Local Disk C: \ Program files \ Magix \ Movie Edit Pro X \ (next folder could be labelled 11 or 12 depending on what version you are running) and scroll down to the programs videpro_x.exe file and add it to the list. Once added it should appear below the 'Browse' dialogue box. Make sure it is set to 'Let Windows Decide'. and see if that helps. It can reduce the amount of system ram needed when running or exporting a project and reduce CPU power loading.

[Edit] have edited the last bits of info as to where to find files for Video ProX. Had accidentally put in details for Movie Edit Pro.

Good evening. Have implemented all the suggestions and believe there has been an improvement. (This after my laptop looked set to die last night when it got very, very hot.) I notice that the word "preloading" keeps appearing at the foot of the screen... is this normal?

Hi. Yes files are normally preloaded before playing. How fast the bar progresses gives some idea of the power of the machine. If you can see it progress you know the machine is struggling a bit. The heat generated is also a giveaway. Try to have it slightly off the work surface if you can (put something across the back to elevate it a bit.) or maybe try hoovering around the fan extract point to see if you can clear any dust. Video editing is the most intensive thing you can give to any pc / laptop. You would not believe the heat cooling I have on my CPU.

Looks like mine needs a clean as well. It's an old case but huge for airflow and power supply.

One thing you can do, and I had to do often on my old system, is to pause the export until it cools down. The problem with most laptops is the non gaming ones tend not to have very good cooling built in because most are never pushed that hard.
