Freezing and Crashing

Mark-Cofano wrote on 11/13/2022, 9:31 PM

I just purchased Music Maker 2023 Premium. It is freezing and the program is crashing continuously.

My computer is a Windows 10 PC that would generally be described as a powerful gaming computer. Loads of RAM, very fast. I have no problems with the stability of any other applications.

Where should I start to resolve the issues? I'm frustrated because I can't do anything including complete the tutorials.

@Mark-Cofano Is the interface very slow, for example, does it take five seconds until a mouse click is registered? Some users wrote it helps them to run the software as administrator by right clicking on the program icon.

Are you using a USB audio interface? Some stability problems could be caused by low quality audio devices. Most mainboards only come with Realtek audio chipsets, which are good enough for audio playback in games but struggle with sample accurate realtime audio computations. Maybe it also depends on the combination of the hardware components in your computer and if the graphic and audio drivers are working well.

Which audio driver is selected in the program settings? You should try to select the Music Maker ASIO driver. Click on "Advanced" to activate your audio input and output and increase the buffer size if your system struggles.

For me:

Slow UI - Yes, about 15 seconds to register each mouse click

Crashes - Not so far (but it's hard to crash when you can't really do anything)

Audio Interface - Presonus Audio Box (using Presonus ASIO drivers), which has worked fine for a long time with MMM.

Does it work fine if running as admin? Yes

Note that this started happening with recent updates (I'm running 31.0.1.13) but I've been running MMM for years without seeing these symptoms

Thank you SP for the workaround, and I hope Magix will solve the issue so that running as admin is not needed
