Boris is offering Particle Illusion StandAlone only, for free! Get it before they change their mind.
When you open it, you will also be offered a bunch of free templates. Get that too!
I did a quick test and rendered to the default mov format. I imported it into VPX (should work the same in MEP) and it comes in with a transparent background. It worked perfectly.
This is a great addition to the toolchest.

Have done this. I liked the look of the version that came with Titler but could only open the once.
Odd there was no password required this time for activation.
I do wonder if the spat of scam phone calls I've received lately since giving my phone number away for Titler is a coincidence though. Not that bothered as I can blacklist area codes from my phone.
I have also downloaded the additional particle accelerators.
Seems fine and something to play with. Funnily enough I was only thinking how useful this would be yesterday.
Any idea if this is also a one year licence? There is no mention of which type I can find. I'm assuming at this point it's a one year licence again.

If you go to The Borris Continuum Titler main page and look up which version we have I'm sure that stated a one year agreement. I do remember seeing something either mentioning Vegas version or Magix version.
I haven't so far found a similar page for the particle Illusion download.
The interesting thing about the licences (for both) is it is all to do with the use of the software alone. (How many copies/users/reverse engineering, stuff). Not what is produced when used. There seems to be no restriction to commercial use over private consumer use. Cool.
Also cool is the amount of stuff in this program and how small an amount of disk space used.

I've rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled to a different specified folder. No go. Somehow I think the continuum version that can't be uninstalled separately has somehow linked with the stand-alone version. Titler is fine at present so don't really want to try reinstalling that. Did you also get the non stand alone version of Particle Illusion install with Titler?

I only got to open mine the twice. I also got a problem when I tried to export a movie when I used it the second time. I got a pop-up box saying 'Internal error'. Then it didn't open again once I closed the program.
I was trying to export a 4K MP4 file at 50fps.
[Edit] I forgot about that. so my first post is wrong.
[Edit] Also I'm using MEP not VP-X.

I open the Stand alone version (cyan box), but opening the other one above does the same thing - except that it is likely not the SAL version as there is no Render button. So, don't use that one.

Thanks for posting the screen shots. Apart from background colour, looks denticle to my setup. Even the export box is the same. I wonder If I have some weird thing going on with Windows defender? The 'Check for updates' works, or seems to work. It just comes back with ' You are up to date' with version number.
Just checked and it's awaiting to update to version 2004.
What build of Win 10 are you on?

Hi Guys.
The new version of the Borris Titler effects is now available to download from the site and the activation key you were given works with the new version which is much faster on initial processing of the effects and has some bugs fixed. There was also a note saying it's not guaranteed to work in all OFX programs but because I'll try anything to regain the Particle Illusion effect that I still can't get to run I tried the update. That didn't work, but the update to the titler did.

Did you set Particle Illusion to use a specific GPU in Windows, Graphics settings?
I have do not have it specified which GPU to use in the Graphics settings.

Hi John.
I didn't touch settings at all, I just hopped from one or two of the effects to see what they looked liked (there was a lot to look at) and then on the second time I opened it I tried to export an effect as an MP4 file at 4K that gave the violation warning saying something had broken upon export. Hasn't worked since.
Since then I can't get it to do more than show a completely blank screen as I showed above. I can ask it if it's up to date which it confirms, but the actual program, either version, nothing.
I'll save the programs and product keys to archive and try again if I ever have to rebuild the machine again.
I've found an event log, I'll remove any ID but otherwise here's the log.

That may have been a mistake as I'm only using 1080p monitors.
Maybe it's expecting a 4K resolution to display at.

No problem with program starting, unless I set the PI (stand alone) to use the NV gpu in the Windows Graphics settings then just like MEP and VPX it refuses to start - no indocation it is running in Task Manager.
I do have a different issue with it though - exporting as mp4 with the Openh264 encoder fails with internal stream error, if I use the Apple encoder to MOV works fine.

Does your Borris FX log file differ to mine in any way john?

Where did you find your log files - mine are completely different and give no indication of any error when trying to render.
