Frame dropping...getting too many

I have Magix Movies V 6.0.3.7. and I'm having big problems with 'frame dropping'. Hope someone out there can help because I'm getting mega frustrated :-(

I have successfully recorded from a VHS player, but with very variable results. The video plays fine on the preview screen but the 'dropped frames' count if often massive, with the result that the recorded movie is useless.

The help suggests 'computer speed' can be a cause so I switched on task manager to see what was going on. CPU usage is typically 50-75%.

What I cannot understand is I have made some good recordings that during first attempted recordings, were dropping lots of frames. I usually rewind the VHS tape, restart the PC and limit any background programs to keep resources. I eventually was able to record OK but I'm not sure of the secret formula...ie what is it that sometimes works and then doesn't. Any ideas out there?

The frame dropping is most likely because of the device which is converting analog to video, if you are using something like a video to usb converter then the converter is either not fast enough, or it is not a USB2 device, or not plugged into a USB 2 port.

If you are using a graphics card with video input then it may not be configured correctly.

Until you come back with more information about the equipment you are using it difficult to be more precise
