For the life of me, I cannot figure this out!!

I've been using Magix Music Maker for years. As I'm sure most of you are aware, MM can't do it all, but what it can do without crashing, it does extremely well, which is why I keep it in my toolbox. Well today, I tried downloading one of my old purchases (new computer) because I needed to slap a few effects on a sound effect and I remembered MM would be perfect for it.

I downloaded without a hitch, registered it and set to work. Once I was happy, I went to export and then the frustration started - all the export options were grayed out. After tinkering between the website and the program for a little over an hour, it got to the point where I said "eff it" and purchased a license for the new version, as I was told that Magix support would not help me with an outdated version of their product.

Once the new version was installed and registered, I got to work again. Once again, I go to export and SAME FRIGGIN THING - cannot export to ANY format.

Come to find out, you have to purchase a help ticket for $13 in order to get someone from the company on the phone for technical support?!?!?! What kind of a scam is that??? Talk about customer service...

Does anyone know what the issue could possibly be? I've tried everything. I've read the supplied help documentation and searched online. I cannot figure this one out and I'm approaching a deadline for a project.

Please help :(

Hi cj,

A few things:

  1. Which MMM did you install - 2013 or 2014, regular or Premium?
  2. What operating system are you using?
  3. Did you purchase the new installation directly from Magix or from somewhere else?
  4. Did you download and install all of the add-ons under Help, Update program/Upgrade functions, Download free synthesizer and Sound packages?
  5. I presume that you have some music loaded in MMM when you click on File, Export. If not, all you will see is the first selection and the others will be grayed out. Is this the case? Can you at least open the first one on the list "Common export options?"
  6. Can you at least play your music in MMM and hear it?

I suggest that you describe in detail your steps and make screen shots to show what you did, have and the problem. If we cannot help you here, contact Magix through their web site support, not by telephone. Describe your problem fully. They will get back to you with suggestions. Once you have this email from the technician, then you can send a file showing your problem in detail. I do this and I get very good service.

Regards,
