I have a preferred Google font that I use called Lexend. I'm trying to use it with Movie Studio 2023 Platinum, and I've run into a couple issues.
Firstly, I have the whole font family downloaded, consisting of Thin, ExtraLight, Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold, and Black. Only "regular" appears as the correct font, the rest appear as Arial. Looking into that issue, I found that the font files needed to be installed for all users, outside the user folder. Seeing that they weren't, I uninstalled the font files and reinstalled them for all users, and I checked in the Windows 11 font settings menu that the font is installed in the correct folder (C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\LEXEND-VARIABLEFONT_WGHT.TTF). I restarted my computer and tested it in a new Movie Studio file, but the issue persists.
Secondly, adding a border effect to the text in the Title Editing window creates some awful distortion on some of the characters, which seems to be the case for only the Lexend font. It seems to mess with the width of some of the lines in a weird way. I did a test export to see if the problem was only in playback, but it showed up just the same in the exported file. Increasing the border width to absurd levels makes it go away, but that's a less than ideal solution.
Is it just me or does Movie Studio have a special hatred for this font in particular?
