Flash Player in Windows 10 Edge

jsimm026 wrote on 1/21/2019, 5:20 PM

Flash Player in Windows 10 Edge has to be activated on a once only basis for Website Maker Delux 2014 and for the Published Website itself by me (when I publish or just view) and also visitors to my website.

Also, I do not know if this is linked to access to Flash issue, but after making changes to the design of my Website, the Preview Function only returns a blank screen.

Hi.

Flash is considered a security risk to a user's computer and hence has been disabled in most (?all) browsers.

The best advice that can be offered is to find an alternative method of presenting whatever you currently have which uses Flash!

Hi

Flash has been deprecated from the current HTML standards and is no longer, as Jeff has said, considered secure.

The video format for the current web standard HTML 5, is MP4, this being the most universal format that all web browsers and most mobile devices can play.

AFAIK Website Maker 2014 does not support HTML 5 website generation and has been superceded by Xara Web Designer.

I would suggest you download the trial version and using a copy of your Website Maker project and see if Web Designer can open it and allow you to edit it.

If not, then you will have to create the website either by, following this procedure to import the existing published website or create from new.

Note: I have not used the import for importing a whole website, however after some quick testing it would appear the import function imports 1 page at a time and you will have to import every page in the website one by one adding new blank pages to import into and then rebuild all the page links and any other links and replace the video clips with mp4s.

@emmrecs

Hi Jeff

Many thanks for spotting that - I did type secure with a small typo in it, however did not notice that the spell checker had changed it to insecure.

Post has been corrected.

Thanks again
