@Morris-Ruberto I believe for solving the offline problem you need to put the files back into their original location.

To see the cause of crashes check the Windows Reliability monitor or Windows Event Viewer. Windows should record a detailed crash description of all application crashes there.

To add to @SP.'s comment there is a tutorial here on how to launch and use the Windows Reliability monitor - it is an easier way to find a crash/hang issue then going through the event logs with the Event Viewer.
