Hi @lee-robin, you probably used a PCM 'mono' preset by mistake. I have done that many times. PCM (wave) files have both mono and stereo 'factory' presets. Stereo is usually the default for most file types. For MP3, AAC and some other lossy formats, the mono mode must be selected using the "Custom" tab in the 'Save as' menu. Your custom preset can be saved so it will be in the main 'Save' and 'Save as' context menu.

Addendum: If a file is single-channel mono to begin with, it may be necessary to convert it to 2 channel stereo (dual-mono) in "Process> Channel converter". However if the audio has no spacial content, it makes little sense to convert it to 2 channels. A single-channel mono file will playback in both L/R speakers anyway, and a two-channel PCM file will be twice the size of a single channel mono. This is not the case with lossy file types like MP3.. but the resolution would be doubled. for instance a 128 kbs 'mono' file would have the the resolution of a 256 kbs stereo file at the same 128 kbs file size.
