File format - I don't understand.

I've shot my footage with Panasonic AVCHD Tm900.  I chose 1920x1080 and I think it is 50i.

In trying to export it (I'm still using the trial before purchase) I can't seem to export it in mpeg4.   I get an error with mpeg4.
If I go with MPeg2 it turns out fine, but I want to know is there a difference. I thought mpeg4 was better for avchd?

My aim is to make avchd dvds, and also to make a backup copy file.  I want these to be the best quality possible, and preserve the quality of the original avchd.   Which is best mpeg4 or mpeg2, and why won't mpeg4 work?

When I start the program again I get this crash window:

all this worries me, otherwise it seems a good programme.

Thanks for your input,

Jenny.

Hi

The mp4 codec is licensed and AFAIK is not included in the trial version of MEP.

The difference between mp4 and mpg is quite significant - mp4 has a very high compression rate, yet still gives high quality video in a much smaller file size then mpg.

mp4 is also suitable for streaming from the Internet - ie you do not have to wait until all the video has been down loaded before playing starts as with mpg files.
