Hi.

One question please.

Do I have to have a 10th generation Intel CPU or higher to take advantage of the new stability improvements or improvements in either playback smoothness or improved export performance. Without a motherboard supporting Resizable Bar are there any performance improvements to be had over using MMS 2022?

I have installed Movie Studio 2022 successfully except for the 2 NewBlue Essentials 5 Ultimate and NewBlue Stylisers 5 Ultimate effects. I start the program; it tells me that these are ready for download (individually), which I do and it then installs then successfully (?). I restart the program each time, but the download invitation has not disappeared in either case. Have I missed a step somewhere (it does not ask for any codes during the process). Any help appreciated. Thank uou.

I am making a comment here because I am unable to find the technical support email form to enquire about this issue. I am running Windows 11 PRO. Just upgraded to MS 2023 Suite. During the upgrade process, it did not remove any files on MS 2022 Platinum files that I was running previously. So I did a uninstall of MS 2022. But what is strange is that where the software stores its video content, there are 3 folders that contain almost the same content and each takes over 8 gigs storage. Here is where it is stored: C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/Magix/Common/Videocontent. The three folders are:

Movie Edit Pro Premium

Movie Studio Platinum VD

Movie Studio Suite

They all have the same Modification Date. Does anyone know what folder MS 2023 uses as I would like to remove folders not being used by MS 2023 because they take a lot of storage space. One would think it is the Movie Studio Suite but the files in all of them look almost the same. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

If you go to the program settings o press the Y key in the folder tab you have a list of folder addresses where the program store some data, maybe this can help you to figure out.

Hi

. . . . MS 2023 Suite . . . did not remove any files on MS 2022 Platinum files that I was running previously.. . . .

From your previous post here -  Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium 2020

The three folders are correct. - there is nothing wrong other than the new content for each was added to each programs own folder for some reason - 2020 should have been replaced with 2022 which would then be replaced with 2023, however something has gone wrong and the content not migrated across.

When installing the three programs did you accept the default installation locations?

Yes, I used the default installation locations. However, I wish I had taken note of the specific sub folder under the "VIdeocontent" folder that it was installing too but unfortunately not I did not.

Although I have only used MS 2023 for a few days now, I am finding it significantly slower that MS 2022 especially when effects that I added to the timeline are rendering. I will be researching that out to see if I can speed things up.

Hi,

It would be nice if Magix would get around to fixing the bugs that I and others have raised - over and over. They were for VPX but also apply to MEP/MS. If you don't know what these are, check my account and the tickets that have been raised over the years along with the detailed Bug List file. Below is only a summary of the bugs without the details and videos.

Bug002 - External audio editor mixdown problem

Bug004 - HitFilm OFX keyframing X and Y problem

Bug014 - Undo causes playback marker to jump to beginning of a range

Bug016 - Startup screen - Load existing projects - popdown now only has the Introduction Video, never anything else. Not really a problem, but why have it if it does nothing? There was a time when it worked.

Bug021 - Transition Effect Transition Basic: Blurry - all of them: Edit Trimmer does not work on transitions with a Blurry effect.

Bug023 - Title Templates, captions go to wrong place if there is something on tracks 4 or 5. They should just go to higher numbered tracks, not somewhere else on the timeline.

Bug026 - Xara Problem: Create overlay graphics/animations, and creating an animation that comes back onto the timeline. All XAR objects are blank after a reboot. See also Bug048 as the problem is now worse.

Bug028 - Thru Black Transition: Using the “Thru black” transition on a track between 2 video clips that are PiP type causes the entire screen to go black instead of just the clips that have the transition.

Bug036 - Audio Effects Equalizer lost if object split or the beginning trimmed (using shortcut Z).

Bug038 - Moving Cut Point in Mouse Mode for All Tracks Error - selecting the head (left) Object Border and moving it creates a transition when going left, or opens up a gap when going right; it should not.

Bug039 - Object and Edit Trimmers (Part 2) - some of the arrow buttons do not work when clicked on in single frame increments but do using 5 frame increments. Also, the Help documentation for the shortcut is wrong - it says to use Ctrl+click, actual shortcut is Ctrl+Alt+Click. Why is it so hard to correct the manual within a few years of being informed of this?

Bug048 - XAR object with MS disappears – The interface between VPX/MEP/MS and Xara has been broken in different ways for several years now. The latest, for the last year is an error produced when exiting from Xara.

Bug051 - Transitions using 3rd Party Transitions - the second clip was no longer showing up in the third party transitions interface, now it's worse - nothing shows up. Tested by me with Pixelan SpiceMaster, Pixelan DissolveMaster, proDAD Adorage, and by Jeff @emmrecs with Vitascene.

There are a few others, but I have given up on them and there are some by others that I cannot validate.

I got Vegas with newly bought camera and I stayed with it for many years despite so many problems including the most acute which is rendering. If I could render my work in an earlier version of Vegas it would be perhaps OK but this is not possible. Imagine spending hours working on something and then you get nothing out of it. This is the last time I try to help you so, please do not dismiss it.Given so many years I use Vegas you owe me a lot of time and other losses I demand to be treated seriously. I will not let it be....

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums, so not a contact for any Magix staff and no-one who posts here owes you anything, sorry.

You have posted to a thread announcing the release of Magix Movie Studio 2023, but your mention of Vegas makes me wonder if you are writing about either Magix Vegas Pro or Magix Vegas Edit.

Magix Movie Studio is a new product, completely different to Vegas Movie Studio version 17 or earlier. This is the forum for questions about the former so feel free to create a new thread with full details of your computer and the problems you are experiencing.

For questions on either of the latter products please read this pinned post and follow the advice given there.

Because it reduces the entire image, you cannot just bring down the top and bottom to hide the menus and task bar, it looks terrible when one does that, loses too much.

Chris, what are the details of this "Crop Add in"? I've never heard of such a thing.

What are you trying to crop? It sounds like it's a computer screenshot/capture ("taskbar" and "menus"). In that case, as JohnCB says, Section will do the job. It's functionality hasn't changed from earlier versions.

Hi John EB,

Is it my misunderstanding or is there a problem with the new "Intelligent search feature?"

The new search feature helps you find the correct effects and templates even faster. It provides relevant suggestions as you type, and even overlooks minor spelling mistakes.

Does this mean that it only considers the categories and not the details?

1. Searching under Templates does not find the search term in the details, only the categories.

Example 1 - "Movement" finds two categories - Movement Basic and Movements Basic - and several other categories that seem to have nothing to do with the search term.

Example 2 - "Mountains" finds "Countries & Islands" and there is nothing under that containing anything close to the search term. However, there are "Mountains" under "Themepacks - Utlimate Travel Package." In the image below, I navigated to the latter and then put in the search term. Searching did not find "Mountains." The only thing that I can figure is that it found "ount."

Example 3 - "Alps" finds 40 categories.

Example 4 - "Caribbean" finds nothing but I have one under Image Objects - Deco Elements: Maps Countries & Islands.

2. Searching under Effects is similar.

Example 4 - "Section" finds Section and many others, however, some of them contain parts of the word, like "tion."

Example 5 - "Zoom" finds 10 categories, pretty good first finding "Camera/Zoom shot" and "Hitfilm Zoom Blur" but the others are questionable. It found Chroma key and I can't figure out why.

I would have thought that it would find categories that also have the search term in the details, but I guess that it is limited to the categories.

No-where can I find the 'CROP' add-in

Chris, what are the details of this "Crop Add in"? I've never heard of such a thing.

What are you trying to crop? It sounds like it's a computer screenshot/capture ("taskbar" and "menus"). In that case, as JohnCB says, Section will do the job. It's functionality hasn't changed from earlier versions.

The crop exists in the 2016 an the 2020 edition and is far easier and much faster to use.
