Hi

Invisible audio recordings bug - works as it should do.

Fade in / Fade out handling - not sure what the issue was, however it appears to fix a small issue I have just found where I had one occurrence of the last frame of the cross fade revert to a pale cream colour and appear to flash when viewing.

The other bugs I have not come across.

Pretty upset about getting ads on my desktop, I didn't pay for that. I don't use software that's intrusive, and just seeing it was quite a surprise. I'd like the updates for a year I paid for though the ad seems to think I need to upgrade? I am really unimpressed and surprised that this came from Vegas software, I'll have to find something else if it continues. Even the free editors don't invade my desktop with ads like this.

Hi

Please note that this topic is about feedback on the update. The issue you are having has been raised before and a quick search would have given you the solution.

The ads can be stopped by uninstalling Magix Network Sync or Magix Connect - you will have one or the other.

Or, if you use the functions within this software, right clicking the Network Sync/Connect icon in the System tray bottom right of your desktop and open the program, then disable the notifications, as shown below.

Sorry it took so long to respond, gearing up for a tour. I'll have to check my version. This is just where the link took me sorry but thanks that fixed it. First I'd seen of this thought I might have gotten a virus.

As I've written before, and as my signature states, the last MEP I bought was Plus 2016. I said I wouldn't upgrade to another version of MEP until you all used my nVidia GPU for encoding. (I'm not going to buy Intel, especially in these Ryzen days.) There are other main stream manufacturers who use my GPU and I can render a 1.5 hour movie in minutes with the editor I use now. While I still think the MEP timeline is among the best, I'm willing to accept a less than ergonomic timeline in my current editor for (very) fast encoding.a

Have Marketing send me an email if ever you all decide to use the native NVENC encoder in my GPU. Even then I'll have to decide if I'll buy into your one year model, where I lose fixes if I update my computer after a year.

I'll check back in in a year or two. Maybe.

Started with MEP 11, then 17, then MX, then MEP 2013, 2015, then 2016. Changed to the fast competitor after that, which worked fine with my non-Intel hardware. Then bought a used Dell with an Intel GPU, just to play with MEP again. Installed MEP 2020 Plus in March 2020, even tho I don't like losing patches if I have to reinstall after a year.

Testing on a Dell Vostro, <s>i3-8100</s> updated to i5-9400 w/ UHD 630, 16 GB 2400 DDR4 (CL15), Win10 Home, heavily NTLite'd. Now with GTX-1650 Super OC'd. Added a WD Blue M.2 for OS (PCIe 3), Apps, Temps and Video-In. 2 Monitors. A WD Blue SSD for outputs. (SATA III.)

The fact that the maximum video size which you can now save is 1.99GB sucks!!

Just a cheap con by Magix to try getting more money out of people, as no doubt to be able to save bigger size video files you will now need to upgrade to a new more expensive version of MEP!!

emmrecs wrote on 10/3/2018, 4:20 AM

@Apollo89x

That limitation applies to exports to DVD; it is one of the specifications of the format.

As per a reply given in one of your threads to which you have posted the same complaint, your assertion is just simply wrong that ALL export formats are limited to 1.99GB.

Unfortunately, if you continue with this stream of erroneous posts you are liable to be banned from forum access.

Ok well if that limitation size is meant to only apply to videos being exported onto a DVD disk, why does MEP keep limiting all my videos to that size when I'm simply saving the file as an mp4 onto a laptop??

emmrecs wrote on 10/3/2018, 7:43 AM

@Apollo89x

Just as an experiment I opened an "old" project and exported it to mp4. The screenshot below shows the really relevant section of the MediaInfo data. Notice, the file size is 3.08GB, so no limitation of 1.99GB.

Ok well MEP may be working correctly for you, but it's malfunctioning when I use it...

(As ultimately it's MEP which is cutting the file size after 1.99GB, not my laptop which is somehow magically doing anything to the video file whilst MEP exports it).

Well, just for the "hell" of it I've just repeated my previous export, this time using Video Pro X (latest version) on the same computer, same project. The result, exactly as before, one file of 3.08GB!

So, regrettable (and unacceptable, I suspect) as this may be to you there is no malfunction in the Export process of MEP or VPX which would lead to every exported file being truncated at 1.99GB! The problem is somewhere either in the export settings you are (accidentally) using - I have not been able to find any way of forcing MEP/VPX to truncate exported files - or in the hardware, software or operation of your computer. 😟

I exported a file using MEP Premium 2019 v. 18.0.1.209, to mp4 using my normal parameters, those under File, Export Movie, Export as MPEG-4 and clicking on the Display all button and the dropdown menu. The resulting file was 3.557 GB; no split file. So, there is no problem with Magix splitting files.

@Apollo89x has indicated in another thread that the problem was resolved. The problems seems to have been either the choice of export (Export to Device) instead of File, Export Movie, or the choice of destination, or streamable, one of which decided that 2GB should be the maximum file size.

Hi Mathias,

It seems that most of the problems that we had identified have not been corrected. Here is the revised list that includes some that have been resolved:

1. Startup screen - Load existing project is always blank and there is nothing in the pop-down. EDIT: There is an issue which occurs once the Recent file list in the videodeluxe.ini file reaches more than 10 entries. It would also be more useful if they were listed in reverse order, i.e. newest to oldest.

2. Templates screen - on my Surface Pro 4, same problem that I raised for VPX - cannot use the vertical scroll that is to the left of the list. Instead, a double-arrow shows up to resize the window. This may only be a problem on touch screens.

3. No updated manual, either pdf or chm EDIT: The 2019 pdf manual is now available. Under Help, Download manual (PDF). I presume that the next patch will have the updated chm file.

4. Resolved: Professional title animations - cannot find anything about this new feature. The advert was changed, so there is really nothing new. EDIT: The 2019 pdf manual mentions: "Kinetic Type Templates - In the Kinetic Type category, you'll find templates, which you can use to create titles with the new Kinetic Type engine.
The templates contain the usual text animations, for example, text which is composed of flying letters or words where a wave movement travels through the individual letters. Since the programming behind such animations is so complex, there are no further design options except the ability to enter your own text. Give the predesigned templates a try.
" I have no idea what these are. There is no category that says, "Kinetic Type."

5. Chroma key for everyone - cannot find anything about this new feature

6. External audio editor - right-clicking on the audio part of a video clip does not bring up the possibility of editing it in an external editor. It used to and should. The problem is only on the source files, not on proxy files.

7. External audio editor - AML and ACL return errors, VSCL returns nothing. Only ME3 and Samplitude Pro X3 work properly.

8. NewBlue Video Essentials III and IV OFX still giving black preview monitor with/without HWA and export either crashes MEP or gives video with no image, only sound, with/without HWA. This affects some computers and not others.

9. MultiCam - audio on Track 2 seems to create transitions when exiting (see French forum). EDIT: I'm not sure if this has been corrected or not.

10. Resolved: proDAD Heroglyph - causes MEP2019 to restart. Works for me in patch 209.

11. Resolved, not a problem - Chapters - seems to be a problem with chapters not starting at the correct location on a burned DVD/BR

12. Rotation - Using the previous version, the Straighten Horizon slider would automatically crop the picture so that the sides were vertical - some changes to the aspect were available using "Section" but the sides always remained vertical. This happens under 2 specific conditions, otherwise no issue:

The image size is reduced to less than full screen - it does not matter which order the 2 effects are applied.

The section is bigger than the available area in the rotated image - apply to avoid this - straighten horizon/rotate first then apply section settings - you can then see the limits available in the rotated image.

13. Icon Button under Effects jumps back to top of list (NB non OFX effects): the previous version the icon buttons under Effects always stayed where they were i.e. using a button at the bottom of the scrolling bit and applying the effect, that button was still showing. In the new version after applying the effect at the bottom of the scroller, the button moves to the top again meaning I have to scroll down to the bottom (or wherever) again.

14. Taskbar icon during export: when a video is being exported, the taskbar icon is always solid green. In the previous version it slowly turned green as the encoding progressed.

15. NB Essentials IV Drop Shadow - OFX: causes a crash and restart (in both MEP and VPX).
