[Feedback] How do you like version 12.1.0.170

MAGIX_Redaktion wrote on 8/8/2018, 2:24 AM

Dear Community,

We have updated SOUND FORGE Pro to version 12.1.0.170.

You can find the patch notes here: https://www.magix.info/us/forum/patch-for-sound-forge-pro-version-12-1-0-170--1209333/

This is the first major update. This is why I want to give a feedback thread a shot. We are doing this for Video Pro X already and it has helped us gaining a lot of insight from you, the users. If you like these feedback threads, it would be great to make it regular thing.

Let's see how it goes. We are eager to hear what you have to say about the new SOUND FORGE Pro version.

As always, be friendly and constructive in your criticism.

Let the feedback round begin! 🎉

I am still getting the "invalid argument" error thing with all Eventide plugins.

All of my Softube plugins do not show a GUI (blank box), and are unusable in SF12.

VST scanner locked me up a ton of times during startup. I had to weed out one of my VST folders that had an Izotope plugins folder in it, and then temporarily delete the Izotope folder.

Although it took a serious ton of time to figure out, and finally get all my vsts scanned in, I fared better than the last version - this time.

The Eventide plugins are usable, as they were before, after the error message disappears. The Softube plugins are not at all usable, since you can't see anything to adjust or presets to pick from.

So far, all else within the program itself seems to work fine, and stable.

If they are just off-screen, out of view, the plug-in window can now be resized. Prior to that some plug-ins' parameters were hidden depending on the PCs display resolution and DPI setting. For instance, due to my aging eye sight, I have the DPI set to 175%. The 'recommended' DPI is 125% for my 1920x1080 resolution laptop display.

Drag and Drop Not working with SoundForge 12, this blows

Absolutely none of my previous settings were saved with the new patch, everything went back as if it were a completely new installation, I had to reconfigure every single setting, totally annoying and just not acceptable, at the very least a warning should have been given that all previous settings would be lost.

I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing recording freezes in 12.1? I've had a rash of stopping in mid record since updating to the new version.

@david-c Thank you for reporting / giving us your feedback.

We have now a method for everybody who wants to save his/hers custom preferences: Please use our Batch file to migrate your settings to Version 12.1 (unfortunately not working for custom colors).

@donaldh606 and @Marcio-Brenes have you tried contacting our support?

I haven't contacted support, but I think I've found a connection with MS Outlook being open while recording.

In sound forge 12, spacebar pauses recording, instead stop. Old record window back, please.

There is a preference setting for that in the 'Options> Preferences> General' menu. Uncheck the box: "Spacebar and F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop" The default is Play/Stop, so you may have changed it inadvertently at some point.

Many folks (including myself) prefer the old record window as well. .. same with the plug-in chainer UI.

Is there a way to go back to Sound Forge Pro 12.0? I am constantly having record failures in 12.1 that do not occur in SFP 11. 12 was stable, 12.1 is not. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 12.1 with no change in record errors.

Thanks for answering. But, I'll wait for the next version, SFP 12 is not good for me. Maybe in the next version, the old recording window will come back.

I do not know where to download SF Pro 12.0, contact MAGIX customer service.

In the rare instance I record something direct to the PC, I usually use SF-10, which had the legacy record UI.
