Favorite Loops disappeared!!

Richard-Laporte wrote on 7/13/2019, 7:15 PM

I just updated to the 2020 version of music maker. I decided to spend a few hours to create a favorite list of sound loops that I mostly use (which is quite a few).
All was fine until I went and choose to re scan the loops in the settings. When it was completed all the favorites I picked out disappeared. the list is empty!! NOT COOL!!
This is not a good thing to happen when a re scan is done. The favorites list shouldn't just vanish. Very inconvenient to hafto go through all the loops again to re add to the favorite list. I've been using Music Maker for a number of years and this is the first time for me to use the favorite option because of the increasing number of pools I've purchased. Not a very good experience. Time wasted.

Is there going to be a fix for this issue?

Thanks

@Richard-Laporte

Hi

An update to a new version is in effect a new install, the soundpools, instruments etc from previous versions are not uninstalled, however some custom settings may be lost.

If you have not done so, you also need to activate the soundpools, instruments etc from the older versions and by entering the serial numbers into to the Help, Activate edition . . dialog - you can activate previous versions from MX onwards .

Soundpools you have already purchased should be available to download from the store. If not contact Magix support using the link at the bottom of every page in the forum.

Hello...Yes...I have downloaded all my sound pools and re registered them after the new 2020 version install.

I retried the re scan option with some random loops in the favorite list and again after the scan the favorite list got erased.
I don't think this is an isolated issue.

Hi Richard,

I just checked this and can confirm that the rescan does indeed get rid of the fav list, which is managed via the soundpool database. This doesn't come as a surprise to me, as the rescan probably pretty much amounts to a rebuilding of the database file. So, I'm not sure whether this will ever be any different, but I'll bring it up to the development team, just in case.

Is there any particular reason you're running rescans of the soundpool DB? This shouldn't be something that is necessary to do as part of your regular program use. In version 2020, the program now also forces an additional check for missing soundpools when starting it up. So, this would already take care of invalid entries in the soundpool database after soundpools have been physically removed from the hard drive (for whatever reason). Beyond that, I can only see rescanning being performed to tackle specific problem situations.

Cheers!
