Failure to record cd properly

andrew-b67 wrote on 9/5/2014, 3:51 AM

To amplify my previous question: I an record a cassette tape to computer, clean it, add track markers etc, and can hear it correctly on the computer (vista). But when I burn a cd, the first track, maybe two seem ok, then it fades and ends up with just hissing. Have rebooted computer and reinstalled audio cleaning 12 de luxe from disc. No improvement

Hi Andrew,

Does it do this with other projects or just the one? If only with one project, then there is something that ACL doesn't like with that project. Try exporting to wave files first and per the instructions below that I gave to someone else. Burn the result to a CD to see if this solves your problem.

Make sure that you have a marker with the song name at the beginning of each song.

Do File, Export, and change the parameter to export each file individually. Change the folder to one just for your album. Then export. the m3u file is created automatically.

Here is the text from the manual:

"Each track in its own file with names: Exports each track (i.e. the area between one track marker and the next) into a separate audio file list. If the tracks are saved individually, then a file (.m3u) will be created which contains the names of the individual audio files in the correct order. This is practical since you can open the list file again and load all of the tracks that belong to the project in the right order all in one go. The list file contains the name of the project; the list field allows different naming schemes for the audio files."

The m3u file will be stored in the same folder. You can go to File, New, the File, Load Audio file and select the m3u file. This will load all of the compiled wave files into ACL.

This takes care of the step of compiling the songs and effects before burning as opposed to doing it all in one shot. Listen to the songs to make sure that they are ok. If so, then burn this to the CD and see if this helps.

Thanks for all that, but I had  already tried it and  it was no good. It happens with all projects. But it had all been working fine for days and days before - I am transferring my old cassettes to cd.  Any further thoughts.?
