Fade in/out issue

Can someone explain why objects properties change from one project to the next I'll explain one proj. I was able to set the entry point of of the object to fade in nice and mellow by clicking on the object and managing the bar for the fade and the next I could not even get the object to do anything but to higlight and be moved around or delete I right clicked on it and found other properties but nothing for what I want and need fade in or out or adjusting the volume coming in or going out cansomeone help me while I go back to the pdf again thanks

I have found this same thing what I do to edit fade/vol is enlarge the object/objects.

You edit the bar, in the object, may need to enlarge a couple of times.
