Extract Audio Tracks

KevTheDev999 wrote on 1/21/2021, 7:06 PM

Let me begin by stating it has been a couple months since I last used Video Pro X. I record videos with 2 audio tracks. In past projects I could simply select the video and select the video's audio functions and then select extract audio tracks. This would then pull out both audio tracks for me to work with and hear at the same time. In a new project when attempting this it appears to separate one of the tracks from the video but not both. Then after I select play then stop the video and audio delete. Was there an update that changed how extract audio tracks works? Am I forgetting something? I would like to be able to view both my audio tracks.

Hi

. . . . In a new project when attempting this it appears to separate one of the tracks from the video but not both. Then after I select play then stop the video and audio delete. Was there an update that changed how extract audio tracks works? . . . .

I tried tested with :

  1. video/audio set to display on one track, video/audio grouped together.

  2. video/audio on separate tracks, video/audio grouped together

    Works fine.

  3. audio ungrouped from video, right clicking the audio, Extract audio tracks

Fails to extract the audio tracks

@CubeAce no, it was specifically a function called "extract audio tracks". I stumbled upon the solution however. My project name was using the vertical bar key "|". When I replaced the vertical bar with a dash the audio was able to extract properly. I'm guessing the program was reading the vertical bar as an operator instead as part of the project name thus messing up the code somewhere. I am surprised I am even allowed to create a project name with the vertical bar. Thank you both for your help :)

Hi

The vertical bar (pipe) along with many other symbols eg

# hash (pound in US)
% percent
& ampersand
| pipe

plus 14 others, are disallowed characters in the Windows file naming system.

If you stick to a to z (upper or lower case there is no differentiation) , 0 to 9 the hyphen and underscore you cannot go wrong, spaces are allowed however they can result in you reading filenames incorrectly if part of the name is hidden.
