Exporting to MPEG

Ricadonna wrote on 6/3/2021, 6:56 AM

My product is the Magix Video easy Video Saver, installed on a 64 bit PC running Windows 10. It was supplied in a bundle with a USB converter.

I have successfully exported 3 VHS recordings to my computer as MP4 files, but for some reason another 4 exports (1 of which is dated before any of the others) are not playable. I get the following message:

Can't play

This file isn’t playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt.

0xc00d36c4

I have tried re-exporting but I get the same result.

@Ricadonna

We need to see rather more information about your files, I think!

Please download and install the free MediaInfo utility, point it to one of your files which is playable and post the results of the Text view here. Then repeat the procedure for one of the files which is NOT playable.

It would also be very useful to have rather more information about your computer. This post will show you what we need to know.

A quick search on the error code led me to this Microsoft Support page. Is that of any help to you?

Thanks - that is all very helpful. I will follow the steps you outline, but in the meantime I think I can narrow it down a bit. I have tried exporting as a WMV file, and it works. Crucially, the software reports a success when done, and waits to be closed, whereas when I try exporting as MPEG4 it gets to the end (100%) but then shuts down. The folder I am exporting to shows a full file, but the thumbnail is empty - ie. no picture, just an icon of the media player. Seems to me a problem with the software rather than the PC?

Hi.

Can I ask where you are exporting the files to? Is it a separate drive and if so what type of drive and what is the formatting? IE, NTFS or FAT 32?

Ray.

Hi

It could also be that the export setting you are using does not have the corresponding codec in Windows to enable the playback of the video file. Hence the need for the MediaInfo data.
