Exporting to mp3, song loses sound quality

My completed work sounds great in Magix program (14 or 16), but when I export it to mp3 format, the sound quality is lost.  I then take the mp3 and use the stereo processor to restore it to the sound I want, but when I save it and export it again as an mp3,  the specific quality of sound is lost again.  Hmmm.  How do I retain the sound quality I find in the program and carry it over to an mp3?

Have you checked what the bit rate is set to ... try increasing this value.

mp3 is a lossy compression system so it won't sound like the original - and the mix is important too, have you tried tweaking the overall mix in master audio effects before export.

hope that helps
