Export video to portrait format

fitore-m wrote on 10/27/2020, 5:51 AM

Hello!
I want to export a video in portrait format.I work with the Magix deluxe Premium
First I changed my movie setting to 1080 x 1920 and the aspect ratio to 9:16. Then I also changed the resolution and the aspect ratio to 9:16. But it does not keep the 9:16 setting. Magix plays my video in portrait format but there are black bars on the top and bottom which should not be there.
How do I get my video in portrait mode without black bars on the top and bottom.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Assuming the source video is also portrait, see this tutorial

Hello!
First of all thanks for answering!
I have followed the steps of the tutorial exactly. I even tried it on 3 different computers. Unfortunately it still doesn't work for me. Every time I set the aspect ratio to 9:16 Magix doesn't do it. But it keeps the resolution of 1080 x 1920 and although I changed the movie settings and the export settings to 9:16, it still only plays me the 16:9 aspect ratio. Is it possible that I have to adjust something for this?
I own the video deluxe Premium Version 19.0.2.58

Hi

Can you post the following screen shots:

  1. The full program window with the video on the timeline and Preview monitor.
  2. A zoomed in (horizontally and vertically) view of a video clip on the timeline - we need to be able to read the top bar of the video clip.
  3. The project settings of the project.
  4. The export dialog you are using.

Note use the media upload button , above the text entry dialog, to upload the images to the forum.

Thanks

Hi John!

Thanks for your prompt reply. Enclosed you´ll fin the 4 screenshots.
The point is, that each time I try to export with 9:16 the programm afterwards always change this in 16:9 - that might be the reason, why the video is always in the wrong aspect ratio.

I tried to export it as .avi and that WORKS (with the same settings)?

But no change to get a portrait format as .mp4 :-(

Thanks for your help.

@fitore-m

Hi

For MP4 export try changing the Aspect ratio setting in the export dialog to the same as the dimensions of the video on the timeline, ie 1971:3504 as shown below.
