Export not successful

Greg-Wilson2806 wrote on 2/28/2022, 10:59 PM

I have "finished a lot of movies but for some reason this one gives an error: The export was not successful. Please try with other settings and check to make sure enough hard drive space is available. I have a 2 t hard drive. The project file is 920 KB if I am looking at it right. I tried to make it smaller but received the same message. I made another short of another file and it went well. Any suggestions? Thanks!--Greg

Hi Greg.

The project file has no bearing on the amount of space needed on any given drive for an export.

When exporting, temp files are created on the C: drive that would write the video files you used again and have space reserved needed to do the calculations for any editing, effects used, titling etc. That may run into many GBs of needed drive space and generate the warning you are seeing. Make sure your C: drive has many GBs free for the program to do that.

Hi Greg.

Please remove the product ID and Device ID from your post. It is a public viewable forum. Don't post what could be personal information on the forum. We wouldn't want any part of your system hacked.

Assuming all your graphics drivers are up to date (those driver versions are in my signature are currently up to date) and Windows is completely up to date, the system should be coping unless one of a few things have changed.

Your video source files have changed somehow. Different source or codec in use or different mixed frame rates, resolutions, or audio sample rates in the same project

You have added either more resource intensive plugins / effects and you are running out of physical memory as virtual memory using disc space seldom works well if at all. I have projects of under four minutes that use over 28GBs of memory.

If you are running the latest version of MEP and it's updates, (again this info is in my signature below) it not longer can run of Win 8.1. That ship has now sailed. MEP or now to be known as Movie Studio from now on is Win10 and Win 11 compatible only.

There may be other reasons but if this is a new problem, those are my thoughts so far.

Hi Greg,

Can you clarify which version of Fastcut you are using and the Windows version please?

What was the full error message - eg was there an error code?

To clarify:

. . . . If you are running the latest version of MEP and it's updates, (again this info is in my signature below) it not longer can run of Win 8.1 . . .

MEP 2022 can run on Windows 8 and 7 however it will be 'crippled' due to the lack of DirectX 12 and suitable graphics cards which support DirectX 12.

For any software that is run on unsupported or obsolete OS's eg Window 7, XP, Vista etc, technical support would not be available.
