"Export canceled due to..."

terrypin wrote on 10/28/2012, 10:16 AM

I've been getting this new problem frequently today, when trying to use Export movie > Video as MPEG-4

Happens with even a short range.

Yet if I try an MPEG export that works fine.

Before I start further isolation tests, anyone else seen this or have any thoughts on likely cause please?

Hi terry

What settings are you using for mp4 export, which version of MEP?

I have no problems exporting mp4 from MEP 17, MX or 2013

John

Hi John,

Sorry, meant to include version in the subject. It's MEP 2013.

Tried export settings of both HDTV 1920x1080 and 1228x1080 and other variations.

If I re-open the project in MX, it exports the same range OK.

Further tests show that once the error has been displayed, all subsequent MPEG-4 exports from that project fail with the same error. Even a single JPG. Re-opening the project clears it... until something causes it again.

Until today I've had no problems either. In a while I'll try a PC reboot.

Hi Terry

This looks like this: http://www.magix.info/us/mpeg4-exportmodul-der-export-wurde-mit-einem-unbekanntem-fehlercode.forum.813119.html

I think it is all related to problems we have discussed before involving erratic behaviour with the MPEG4 encoder.

I look forward to a patch.

Peter

Hi Terry

Are you using any GPU rendering?

Looking at Peters post referencing to the German question - I suspect the reason I get no problem is because I am not using the GPU to do any of the rendering.

I am running an ATI graphcs card, GPU rendering does not appear to make a significant difference in render time - having said that the only rendering that does takes place is where the transitions are, still images and the video clips from my sportscam, the rest (the majority of most of my projects) is Smart Rendered for Blu-ray.

Hi Terry and John

Do you have "Calculate Video effects on GPU" ticked in the first MPEG4 Export window as this is using hardware acceleration (about 14% of the GPU on my machine) even though you have software rendering selected. This could be triggering the error.

I got the impression from the German thread (although the translation leaves a bit to be desired) that some were having problems with and some without HW enabled.

Given your description of your projects John, I would not expect to see a big difference in render times either but it does seem a pity that with the GPU doing good work, you lose almost as much as you gain because the CPU work rate drops back by 30% or more when HW rendering is enabled. I guess we would see a bigger relative gain with HW if we had much weaker CPU's.

Best

Peter

Hi Peter

I am experimenting with the 'Calaculate video effects .... setting at the moment to see if I can replicate the problem Terry is having.

So far after trying the different possible combinations I cannot get the error.
