Hi
I am experiencing a large amount of hard disk reading on opening VPX. It appears to be related to a project and its folder on my data drive where I have stored a couple of thousand 4K .MP4 files from a recent holiday. About 500 of these have been added to the project, but on opening the program, even before opening the project, task manager shows that it is systematically reading every file in the folder simultaneously with the processes Video_Pro_X.exe and MsMpEng.exe. The latter is related to Windows Defender's Antimalware protection and after googling I have tried excluding VideoProX's process and the data folder from the Win Defender realtime scan but with little improvement - although it appears to have stopped the MsMpEng reads but not the VPX ones. The reading activity takes several minutes, and if the project is opened before the disc activity stops then I get messages that VPX can not find a few of the files in the project, and relinking needs to be carried out for the project to load completely.
The MP4 files I had also duplicated in another folder so I wondered if this was triggering an alert in Win Def., as if the duplicate files were been seen as bogus, but deleting the duplicates bought no relief. Interestingly one of the google results of MsMpEng / disc activity pricked up my ears when the guy said he became aware of the problem whilst searching a folder for duplicates of .jpgs but this may have been incidental to the problem.
Annoyingly I had experienced this once before but I cannot remember the remedy and was not sure of the cause. I think it is more of a windows problem than a VPX one.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Peter
