I'm using Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 4 on a Windows 10 system. When I try to use a cleaning tool or a mastering tool I get an "Error while writing noise sample file" message. Any ideas on the cause and cure for the issue,
Randomly I have the same problem (Error while writing noise sample file!) while importing file - SFAC Lab 4 on Win 10. I always end up uninstalling & reinstalling SFAC Lab4.
Try turning off you antivurus Realtime/Folder protection and try again. It the noise sample is saved then add the program as an exception to the Realtime/Folder protection scanning feature.
@Former user - repeated re-installing rarely fixes issues, and can make the isuues worse unless this is done correctly and all files, folders and registry items left behind are removed.

John EB,
Thank you. But my C:\Program Files\SOUND FORGE folder had already been excluded in "Virus & threat protection settings: Realtime/Exclusion/Folder", the same folder where SOUND FORGE Audio Cleaning Lab 4 also resides. I did this exclusion way back when "vst scanning technnology" in SFPro14 had issues (I'm using SFPro16 now). Question: do I have to exclude also: C:\ProgramData\SOUND FORGE\SOUND FORGE Audio Cleaning Lab 4?
I was told they did not what was causing the error when I was talking to them. They have not issued a patch or new download yet, hopefully soon. Been using Magix since 2002.
This software error makes batch processing completely useless!!! I tried excluding process from antivirus data protection, but no change. From the dates of previous posts, this software error has been ongoing since 2021 at least. It was a mild annoyance in processing LP recordings, but can't do batching processing at all (I want to convert WMA to MP3). Instead of installing a separate free convertor, I foolishly thought the program I just bought could do this simple task.
I'm using 64 bit. Since I installed online, it might be easier to just find a different convertor since no CD and slow internet. I assume that some of the processing involved would be significantly degraded if downgraded to 32 bit. I think my license is for two machines. Is sound lab available for an android device?
@Jim2 No, it's only available for Windows. The 32 bit version doesn't change anything during processing, it just cannot use as much RAM as a 64 bit version.
But there are some other bugs with the 64 bit version that don't appear with the 32 bit version. That's why I suggested to try it out.
If you don't want to install it, you download the free converter XMedia Recode which can basically convert files between any relevant media codec.
I have an older win10 laptop that I might try 32 bit version on, but I need to fix it before (battery and keyboard connections). Xmedia recode did not allow any output bitrate except 128k. I think the reason I sometimes chose WMA for ripping 20 years ago is that it allowed (at that time) more bitrate choices than MP3. Now I will replace my WMA files, but I don't want to have to reload all those CDs. Audacity doesn't support WMA (says due to usoft license?).
