Error Occurred While Uploading

Ian-Schwartz wrote on 10/1/2022, 3:54 PM

I'm running Movie Studio 2022 Platinum, latest build.

When I try to export a movie to Vimeo (File->Vimeo->Upload current movie as video) I get the error message "An Error Occurred when uploading. Please try again later.

When I try to upload to Youtube, I see this:

Any ideas?

@Ian-Schwartz

I don't recall anyone ever successfully using those upload tools.

It is far better to export the file to your hard drive and then use the YouTube up-loader on your YouTube or Vimeo accounts.

I actually made it work with my 2023 Demo version, but it bugs me that I have to upgrade in order for basic functionality to work. Magix has done a terrible job of communicating What's New in this upgrade and it just doesn't seem worthwhile.

emmrecs wrote on 10/3/2022, 3:19 PM

@Ian-Schwartz

Unfortunately, that basic function relies on the hosting service, Vimeo or YouTube or any other, NOT making any changes to their requirements and protocols.

@emmrecs If Magix can make this function work with the 2023 version, why can't you patch 2022 with the new "... changes to their requirements and protocols"?

emmrecs wrote on 10/3/2022, 3:33 PM

@Ian-Schwartz

Like all the forum moderators I am merely another user, not a Magix employee so I can do nothing to patch 2022, sorry! As a matter of detail, those changes are not unknown to be made by those hosting sites on quite a regular basis. There is thus no way for Magix, or any other video editing software manufacturer to actually “keep up”.

Well hopefully someone from Magix is monitoring this forum. If as you say there is no way to "keep up", don't you think they should not include it as a feature? That's just false advertising.

emmrecs wrote on 10/4/2022, 6:11 AM

@Ian-Schwartz

As a general rule, Magix staff are not present in the forums so I doubt that your concern is being monitored, sorry.

If it is of any interest, I happen to share your thinking: the feature is almost certain to be out of date very quickly, possibly even before the new software version is released. It perhaps should not be included, although it's certainly not false advertising.

Hi,

Yes, but they have to offer the feature because the competitors do...with the same problems.

One should not use an uploader from a video program. Always export, review, correct, export, review, correct, repeat...until you have it. Then, upload using the tools of the website.

What I find strange is that you say that you're trying to upload to Vimeo, but the error message indicates that you're trying to upload to YouTube. Which is it?

EDIT: I just tested uploading to Vimeo from MS2023 and it worked.

John, @Ian-Schwartz has already noted that using the trial for 2023. His beef is with 2022.

 That's just false advertising.

Agree. If it doesn't work as advertised, it's a bug. It doesn't matter what causes it. It should be patched (not having to buy the next version to get the fix), especially since it seems to have been going on for some time. We had at least 4 patches for 2022 but the upload thing appears not to have been fixed until 2023.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Sorry Al, I disagree!

At the time that MS 2022 was released that feature was included and, presumably, worked. The fact that it subsequently did not, for the reasons previously discussed, does not render the advertising as false.

The issue of whether Magix ought to have included a fix in a subsequent patch is indeed one for discussion but since, as has been previously pointed out, (almost) all video editing softwares (if not all) suffer the same problem I think we may assume that the developers consider that any such "change/bugfix" is not a priority!

@AAProds

Hi,

Thanks for pointing that out, I read the dates too fast. Fixing this in 2022 is not the only thing that should have been patched.

The problem is when does one stop patching? Magix has decided that this occurs when a new version becomes available (except for Samplitude Pro X, it seems). This policy is flawed in that new versions always seem to come with new bugs, annoying users. It would be better for the user to have another patch to the previous version rather than the bugs being fixed in the new version, thus allowing the user to wait for a patch or two of the new version before upgrading. We saw horrendous first releases of both VPX13 and MEP2022.
