Error Message when trying to access Local Designs Gallery

Anne-Cobham wrote on 5/26/2022, 6:18 PM

Hey there. I'm using Windows 10 and running Xara Web Designer Premium v.19. When I click the Local Designs Gallery tab, and open the folder Websites, it gives me "+ more online" - I click on that - it opens a screen - and then I get this error message (screenshot attached). The same occurs when I try to open any of the folders under that tab (for example, Components, Social Media, etc.)

Anyone have any ideas?

@Anne-Cobham

Please inform infoservice@magix.net of this problem, which seems to be caused by a Magix server.

Hello. In fact, this was caused by my Norton antivirus software. All I had to do was temporarily disable my Norton antivirus and firewall. All fixed now! I have access to the Online Content Catalog, and I was able to change my website colour theme, which has made me very happy. Thanks everyone! And thanks to Magix Support for chasing this down.

Hi,

Pleased to see that it works, but it was not Norton. There is an intermittent problem with a server somewhere that causes this. I and others, have raised tickets on this. The workaround is to just keep trying. Sometimes I get in the first time, sometimes the second, sometimes the fifth.

You can always raise a ticket just to remind Magix/Xara that there is still a problem.

Hi, I have just updated to Xara Pro X19k and I am also having this problem. I have so far, after 3 days of trying been unable to access the online catalogue, other than for a short time when I managed to download one 'bullet'. Very frustrating and time wasting. It would be great if we could just transfer the local catalogue from the previous version to the new version. I will raise a ticket to remind Magix that there is still a problem

@Alan-Altmann

Hi,

Everything is saved on your computer unless you uninstalled the previous version completely. Look under:

C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Local\Xara\XtremePro\18\Cache\designs\eng

Copy everything from there to the version 19 location:

C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Local\Xara\XtremePro\19\Cache\designs\eng

Also, make a backup.

If you manage to get into the OCC, under Local Designs Gallery in Xara, right-click on each of the topic and select Download All. You can do this at any time. If it connects, the files will be downloaded. While this is happening, you can keep on working.

Thanks for that information John. It helps enormously! I now have the local designs gallery working. Alan

Hi Alan,

Good to hear that.

I hope that Magix/Xara resolves this problem soon, as it has been annoying. That said, it seems to be a hard one to track down, as the problem is not with the program.

Hi

The 504 error is the HTML error code for a Gateway Timeout Error - ie the web server didn't receive a response in time from another server upstream when it attempted to access the data being requested.

in this case it would have to be internal to the Magix servers, as when you access a web site, the request and data delivery can go through many servers and a very large number of different routes from the originator to and from the Magix gateway server(s) that has that data.
