Error Message after capturing: "Many frames were dropped while capturing. You can avoid this by reducing capture quality. I am attempting to capture from a Sony VX2100 DV Tape using an EasyCap USB into a Toshiba Quad4 i7 Windows 7 Home Premium laptop.

Magix Edit Pro 15 Pro Plus is my editing / capturing program. I have reset to default levels(320x240 at 4:3) but the quality of the output is not satisfactory. I need 16:9 at 720X480 29.97 frames per second. Corrections I have made have resulted in jumps, out of synch and too fast video (not representative of what was recorded). Please provide screen shots if possible for me to correctly follow your directions. Thank you.

Hi

I think the problem may be due to poor data transfer rate, at 16:9 720*480 29.97 fps you may be pushing the USB connection over its limits or your Antivirus is interfering.

Try recapturing with only the USB capture device plugged in.  Disconnect any other USB devices you have, disable your Antivirus and disconnect from the Internet.

Just to explain USB has a shared data transfer rate, although it has a theoretical max transfer rate this is shared among devices connected to the same USB hub

Added:

If your laptop has an IEE1394 (Firewire) input then you may be able to get an i-link to firewire lead for the camera. (the i-link is firewire with a different socket) and record direct with this - this would stop frames being dropped as firewire is much faster than USB.
