Error code: CopyToAdapter keeps popping up. I can't find a fix.

Tony-Rapisarda wrote on 9/5/2024, 5:00 PM

Every time I try to export my 11:51 minute video, it fails when it comes to the first short video. The video is an MP4 file, just like all of my other files and videos, and it keeps saying: "Error: copytoadapter" whenever it comes to that video in the export process. I keep trying to export the video as an MP4 file and it never works. I've deleted and replaced the video multiple times, and still nothing works. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hello Tony, could you please advise exactly what version of Movie Studio you have. You can get that from Help>About.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

System 1

Windows 11 v23H2 severely modified by Openshell and ExplorerPatcher

Power supply: 850W Cooler Master (should have got modular)

CPU: Intel i7 13700K running at 3400mhz, cooled by a Kraken 2x140mm All In One liquid cooler.

RAM: 64gb (2x32gb sticks) G.Skill "Ripjaws" DDR4 3200Mhz

GPU 1: iGPU UHD 770

GPU 2: NVidia RTX 3060Ti Windforce 8gb

C drive: NVME 500gb

Various other SSD and HDDs.

Monitor: 27"/68cm Samsung, 2560 x 1440, 43 pixels/cm.

MEP 2021 version 20.0.1.80

Movie Studio 2023 version 22.0.3.172

Magix Video Easy version 7.0.1.145

System 2

(Still in use for TV and videotape capture)

Windows 10 v22H2

CPU: i5-750 at 2670mhz with 12gb RAM

Onboard IEEE1394 (Firewire) port

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4770 (512mb) which is ignored by MEP

Hard drives: C Drive 256gb SSD, various other HDDs.

Monitor: Dell 22"/56cm, 1680x1050, 35 pixels/cm

MEP 2021 version 20.0.1.80

Movie Studio 2023 version 22.0.3.172

Hi

In addition to @AAProds request 'exactly what version of Movie Studio'

Your signature states:

. . . . Video deluxe plus, 2023 Suite - 2024 Suite . . . .

You should not have both versions installed, if you updated from VDL 2023 to VDL 2024 then the 2023 version would be replaced by VDL 2024.

There are several possible causes for the issue you are having depending on any error code(s) you are getting with the error message.

What video format, codec and resolution are you using - to help with this download and install MediaInfo and analyse the first clip causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

Also try the following:

  • . . . . Audio Card: NexiGo N60 FHD Webcam Audio . . . .

Unplug the web cam and repeat the exporting of the project.

  • Temporarily disable your Antivirus Folder/Realtime protection and export again.

  • Check the Windows reliability monitor for any logged issues with VDL, see this short tutorial and post any VDL error message with error code.

  • Check the Windows installation for a failed update/corrupt file issue - see this tutorial.

@johnebaker @AAProds The movie studio I bought was the 2023 version, however it tells me a bunch of information from the 2024 suit and I think I have some of it's features and updates to.

I seem to have found the issue to be that I had to disconnect the audio from the video, and make different tracks for both of them. So sorry for the use of your time.

Hi Tony

As @AAProds has commented - 'no problem we're here to help'.

. . . .  seem to have found the issue to be that I had to disconnect the audio from the video, and make different tracks for both of them.  . . .

I am curious as to why this is necessary, one reason may be that the encoding formats, for the video and audio are not a ' normal combination' for the video file format, can you use MediaInfo to analyse the video file and post the results.
