Error 14 after updating

Darek-Jakubowski wrote on 6/27/2022, 3:03 AM

Hi

As I wrote earlier, I bought online MAGIX Video Deluxe 2019 (Premium edition of Movie Edit Pro). Installation and registration of product was completed succesfully. After few openings I was prompted by Magix
to update (no upgrade) program so I agreed. There was downloaded huge file, then
was installed and in last step appeared a window with button "Acivate&Register"
(serial number and mail address was added automatically and properly !) but after clicking this button opened a window with message - error code 14 (the serial number you entered is invalid or may apply to another product).

As I wrote, serial number was entering into the activation dialogue automatically and is proper and intended for main registered product, You can check it, maybe this updating need another activation code, maybe I should to deactivate this updating somehow ?   Anyway now I can't open a program, I can't use it anymore. What was wrong ? What I should to do ? Can I simply uninstall whole program and try install everything again or reset it some way ? How can I solve this problem ? The retailer can't help and orders to contact program producer. I use Windows 11.
With regards
Darek

below is copy of previous correspondence with Magix support but I need a real help, I want to use this program !!!
======================================

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

This particular error code would come up if you're trying to activate a product with a serial number that is valid, but intended for another product/version. So, please check again whether the serial number you're entering into the activation dialogue is really intended for this particular  product and version. If the product line in question is available in different editions (e.g. classic/Premium/Live editions of Music Maker, or classic/Plus/Premium editions of Movie Edit Pro), make sure you installed the correct edition that your serial number and license is intended for. If you received multiple serial numbers as part of your download order or boxed product, this will typically include one serial number for the main product, as well as one or more serial numbers for bonus programs. Make sure to distinguish between these products and assign the numbers correctly during the product activation(s).

If you registered this product before, you would find an entry under your list of products in the Service Center on our website, after logging in with your registered e-mail address:

https://www.magix.com/gb/support/my-service-center/

This would enable you to match up the serial numbers with the correct product/version. Each entry will also list the matching installer download link. So, if you install the product this way, you can be sure to have the correct combination of product and serial number.

This same error code would also come up if the provided serial hasn't been correctly validated via the POSA (point of sale activation) procedure yet. If this may apply in your case, and you purchased the product from a retailer, please take it back to the store and have them carry out the POSA activation for that license via the appropriate procedure.

I hope this helps. If this information still doesn't enable you to get past this error code, please get back to us and make sure to include all relevant details (e.g. the product you're trying to activate and the serial number you're using for this). Ideally, you should include a full screenshot of the problem situation and error message. Thanks.

Hi

Thank You for reply, but it did not help with issue. As I wrote first installation and activation of program Magix Movie Edit Pro was successful. Actually there is problem with activation after updating. After several uses of program I was prompted one day by Magix pop up window to update (no upgrade) program, so I agreed. At the end of updating, in last step, appeared window  where was fields filled automatically (and right) with my mail address and serial number (the same which I got from the seller and I used successfully to activate program before updating). But after click "activate&register" appeared message with error 14 (I sent screenshot with full message so You can see it). So now I can't finalize updating and I can't open and use program anymore. What can help ? Is it possible to simply delete whole program from computer with Windows manager and make installation once more from the beginning with the same serial number which I got from the seller or will it fail?

Please help.

Darek

@Darek-Jakubowski

Hi

Please note this is a public user to user forum, not Magix support.

. . . .  I bought online MAGIX Video Deluxe 2019 (Premium edition of Movie Edit Pro). . . . .

When did you buy MAGIX Video Deluxe 2019?

Unfortunately what you have done is upgraded to a newer version, which is not a free upgrade as the Video Deluxe 2019 (VDL 2019) update service has expired.

Do note there has been a lot of discussion in the forum already regarding this update/upgrade notification so I will not go in to it here.

There are 2 options:

  • Buy the latest version for the Upgrade price.

    or

  • Re-install VDL 2019.

Assuming you had activated the 2019 version:

    - browse to magix.com, login using the Account login icon top right of the home page
    - select My Products.
    - there you will see the registered 2019 version download and serial number - download the installation file but do not run it yet

    - Uninstall the current installation I would recommend using Revo Uninstaller free to do this

    - re-install VDL 2019.

Once re-installed and activated, uninstall the program which delivers the update/upgrade notifications - it may be one of several different names depending on its age, Magix Cloud, Update notifier, Magix Connect, Connect or Network sync.
