Encoder Is Always Blank For Sony AVC/MVC Audio Codec

Jamil-Taylor wrote on 7/18/2020, 9:11 AM

I am saving audio data using the Sony AVC/MVC audio codec as an MP4 audio file with an extension of .M4A. Almost all codecs write the encoder in the output file, but the Sony AVC/MVC codec leaves encoder blank with no information at all. Sony owns this encoder. Does MAGIX now also own it? Can you write relevant encoder information into the output files as every other audio codec does? Here are some example to give you an idea of what you are missing:

Here is what the Sony AVC/MVC codec writes upon saving:

This is the latest version of Sound Forge version 14 build 65.

I do not know who owns the Sony AVC/AAC encodec. I would assume it is licensed from Sony.. or Magix just never bothered changing it . 'MediaInfo' displays the pertinent audio info (codec, sample rate, bit rate, file size, ect., ect.) May be that particular tag editor.

Allegedly, the Nero or FFmpeg AAC encoders are the best sounding. The MainConcept AVC/AAC encoder is another option within SF. My aged/abused ears cannot hear any difference though,

This is a request to simply write out the encoder.

Whoever owns it, write it out please.

Thank you!

@Jamil-Taylor

Why do you write such a hostile and rude comment as Your replies are not helping at all, so you may stop now.

Even ignoring the fact that Rick (@rraud) is a forum moderator, who has clearly helped you by suggesting you need to contact Magix Support, such dismissive comments to any other user will not be tolerated in the forum, as detailed in the Community rules, linked in the footer of every forum page.

If you wish to continue to have access to these forums please be courteous and respectful in your replies.

Jeff, there was no hostility whatsoever in my reply. I simply stated a fact. rraud did not have to reply at all, if he did not have the answer. It would be very obvious if I had written something disrespectful.

A perfect example where a user asked a question with zero replies is this thread here: https://www.magix.info/us/forum/sf-14-x64-borks-on-initializing-audio-engine--1249393/

No response typically means no one has a solution to this issue. Twelve days have past, and someone could have written to ask support for help. No one did there, so I am a little confused by the rationale here.
