Email problems with online forms

One of my site users has just highlighted a problem. She has attempted to contact me through the online contact forms, but it has told her that her email address is invalid. It is not - it is a correct email address.

I have done some messing about, and seem to have come up with the reason why. Her email address has only two letters before the @ - i.e. jo@domainname.co.uk. Anything less than three letters appears to be recognised as an invalid email address.

This is clearly not sensible, and I wondered if anyone else had come up against it or if anyone knew a fix.

Thanks

I agree. Since this behaviour is not conform to RFCs 2821 and 2822, something should be done...

There is no such thing as a minimum number of characters in the local part of the address - only a maximum number of 64.

Good observation, Dave!
