Edit Midi Recording Problems

I've been using magix music maker premium for a few years and I recently got an Akai midi keyboard. When I create a piano recording I want to edit it to clean it up and maybe add some notes. After recording I double click the recording and it brings up the MIDI Editor, but, it wont let me edit anything or put in new notes. All I have is the magnifying glass. I click on the erase button or the pencil tool to make edits but all it does is zoom in or zoom out. The magnifying glass won't change. I wanted tutorials online and I am doing the same thing they are but it doesn't work. Has anyone had this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated! My version of the software is 28.0.2.47 if that matters.

It doesn't supply a simple answer although people did get round it.

This is Music Maker 2020 - when you upgraded to the 2020 version did you re-install all the extra/purchased content and features ?

The extra mouse modes are in the Creative Suite features.

If not, do so - they have been updated for the 2020 version.

No i still have those icons they just dont work....its only the magnifying glass. I can't click on a note and then drag it to another area in the mini editor. Graham's comment above says that it apparently is a bug in the program that has happened to people before. He said possibly restarting the computer could work. I will try that today. Thank you both for your responses!
